So does this complete our recruiting class?? We are bringing in five players that were not on the team at the end of last year and only losing three... This gives us the same number of scholarship players that we had last year. I could see another JUCO player maybe being added later for front court depth. We have a log jam at the SF position next year with Conger, Johnson, Toupane, and Wright. It should be interesting to see how that all plays out. I'm guessing we will see a lot of CJ and Meech at the 4. It should be a heated battle for playing time between those four.

Who are the 5? Toupane, Runs, Wright and who else? Or are you counting Davenport and Simmons?

Thanks - anybody know who else might have been involved?

There was a Big 12 school involved, and an official visit scheduled.

Thanks. In the old days, we had a pipeline from NYC. Now it's California!

Has bonas ever had 2 players from California on their roster at the same time?

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I like young Mr. Wright's thought process and committment to study and basketball.

However, while SBU co-eds are not USC's Song-Girls by any stretch of the imagination, young Mr. Wright will have plenty of opportunities to be distracted (only after the season of course).

I'm guessing there is one more surprise to come - maybe a combo guard or 4-year future point guard? Either way I am looking forward to seeing the updated roster on the team webpage when all the new guys are finalized. I wonder if there will be any school in the country showing as much national and international diversity as Bonas. Suriname, Senegal, Toronto, Nova Scotia, Louisville, Cincinnati, two from the LA area, DC, Brooklyn and wherever Runs is from - (the Netherlands?). Maybe we should bring in a local walk-on just to balance things out a bit.

With two local kids playing for the Bonnies it would be great timing to play in the Union 76 Classic in Anahiem at the Duck Pond and also play a local team like Cal State Fullerton or Long Beach. The newspapers and local Media would eat it up. (its hard to buy good advertising like that)

I really feel by the end of the season this team is going to surprise the A-10 even with VCU and Butler now in. I also think that just by adding those two teams to the A-10 it will help draw attention to SBU.

By adding Butler and VCU we should be the 5th rated conference ahead of the PAC 12.

It's cyclical. We'll see where the conferences stand once the dust settles next March.

"We are thrilled to have Mark Schmidt as our new men's basketball coach," said new Director of Athletics Steve Watson. "He is a proven, successful head coach who impressed us with his attitude, desire and passion. His teams at Robert Morris were known for how hard they played as well as how they improved. Mark also has a firm understanding of what it takes to compete and win in the A-10."
