Not trying to but the cart ahead of the horse but I can see this team winning 9 a10 games. Yup. . .9.
The roughest stretch is going to be at richmond then the dayton and xavier games.
I think we can split at temple and at gw. Games are only 3 days apart. Schmidt will not let this team lose back to back road games. And that is based on nothing but a gut feeling.
Losses are
at richmond
vs xavier
at dayton
at rhody
at temple
at joes
let the critics go wild.

Let's focus on getting into the A-10 tournament first. It will probably take 5 conference wins to take care of this. The Bonnies have a great opportunity to win 2 of their first 3 and potentially all 3.
The one question that remains is whether the non-conference strength of schedule will hurt the Bonnies now that they enter A-10 play.
As a stretch, would a 7-9 conference record earn an NIT berth?
No matter what happens, this program is going in the right direction. Schmidt is getting 110% effort from all of his players, and that is all that we can ask for as alumni and fans.

Even more importantly, Schmidt can RECRUIT. Simmons, Conger, and Houseknecht will all be very strong players here.

I think 9 is a stretch, we will lose a few games that we should win (not unlike canisus and delaware) but I'm sure we will have a few big wins along the way. I think 9 is too many though.

I agree bonafan. 6 wins would be great, and would give a lot of promise for the 2009-2010 season.
Would it be possible to have a 3-1 start with X coming to town on Jan. 21? Now that would be a game to see!

I guess anything is possible but I'm going to wait until after the Fordham game to make any guesses on how many wins we'll get. We really, really need to win that game.

anyone have any news/status on these three?
-Simmons , has he arrived on campus for the 2nd semester? is he practicing with the team?
- Houseknecht , how does he look in practice, can he hold his own versus our low post players?
- Conger , how is his season progressing? Does he project as a SG or a SF at SBU?
Lastily, can LLewis practice with the team yet? Has there been an official statement from the team regarding his status this year?

Hopefully our strength of schedule (320) doesnt effect our play in the conference.
To me the keys to our success will be :
1. Can Andrew stay out of foul trouble and be a factor against A10 competition.
2. Guard Play--can Ray and Malcolm hold their own vs pressure, and keep their guards
in front of them on the Def. end.
3. Matthews- his liability on D was exposed vs Niagara, Can he defend in the A10?
Can't wait for the new season to begin, lets hope in ends in a A10 tourney game or two!!

before the season started, I was probably the most optomistic of the prognosticators and saw us at 16-13. I had us 10-3 in the non conference schedule. That left us at 6-10 conference. After viewing 4-5 non conference games, I still think it's possible to win 16 games but a realistic figure is probably 14-15. This is still what most people had us at prior to the season.
Granted Andrew and Hall have been much better that I thought they would be, Thomas and Matthews have not lived up to my expectations. If we win 15 games and go over 500% this season should be considered a success.

I thought it was official that leonard redshirted. Also I think 6 A10 victories is attainable. That would be 15-14. Not a bad season. I am thinking college basketball invitational if they are having that again.

My thoughts are anywhere from 5-8 A10 wins. To me, it is just very hard to guage the A10 before play starts. I am very interested to see what kind of showing we make on wednesday. We need to set the tone with a win. Keep the confidence growing for this young team.

With A-10-Season-Eve among us I'll submit my optimistic prediction of 6 or 7 A-10 wins,
with a Bonnie win coming somewhere from the Philadelphia region this season. Yeah I said it: A Philly win.
It's nice to see that this team is erasing the losing culture that we have long been used to when playing on the road. It's easier to get 18-22 year olds excited to play in front of a friendly Student-packed RC, but what exactly does this staff do so well to get the team mentally prepared to play (and win) on the road?
Whatever it is, I'm hoping they can keep up the energy at Rose Hill tomorrow night...much like a squad led by Tyler Relph did in last year's meaningless season-ending game in the Bronx. Except this time, Stout and Dunston won't be around and it will be the Andy Nicholson show. Go Bonas.

Vs. La Salle

Vs. St Louis
Thats an optimistic 7 a 10 wins and a final record of 16-13 (7-9 in A10)
I understand from the other posts that my prediction is probably overkill but i honestly think that we have played some better teams then sos reflects. Or so I hope
