Anybody know if Mr. Ron Threehouse, proprietor of Bowlean Lanes, is still around. May the dear Lord rest his gracious soul should he ain't.

He passed away several years ago. The Bowlean has been leveled.

He has been gone for five years now. The Blue Blazer has been gone for 10. Both were as tough as a $2 steak.

This reminded me of one of my all-time favorite threads on the original version of the Bandwagon. The ladies' schedule had just been released on the old University website, and someone in the sports information department had apparently misheard the name of one of the opponents. I say misheard and not misread because the opponent in question was Bowling Green but it showed up on the website as Bowlean Green. (For those of you non-locals who might not know, this famous entertainment institution was named as a play on the name of its location, Olean. Despite this, a majority of Olean-area residents insisted on pronouncing it as if it rhymed with the brand-name for Olestra.)
This led to a back and forth as to how the staff at the Bowlean would do against the Bona women. One wag, I forget who, posted that despite the fact that he had practically grown-up in the Bowlean, he didn't give them much of a chance, though he acknowledged that (the very large) Mr. Threehouse would probably have some success backing down defenders in the post.
Ron might have been tough as a $2 steak, but he was a good man.
