Wizards to lean on Smith, Nicholson in Mahinmi's absence By: Zach Rosen, October 17, 2016 On Saturday morning, the Wizards announced that center Ian Mahinmi had surgery Friday night on a partially torn medial meniscus in his left knee. Mahinmi suffered the injury in Thursday’s game against Philadelphia, and will miss approximately four to six weeks. Without Mahinmi, free agent signings Jason Smith and Andrew Nicholson will likely be the first to see expanded minutes off the bench. Nicholson has put together back-to-back strong performances in the Wizards' past two preseason games. He helped spark Thursday’s 100-79 win over Philadelphia with a double-double (11 points, 12 rebounds) in a spot-start for Morris, and turned in a 19-point performance against the Kings in Lexington on Saturday. Coach Brooks loves Nicholson’s unique game, especially his ability to score around the basket and his developing perimeter shot. his developing perimeter shot ?? hes had that shot for years ! just goes to show how little these sports writers really know. NCAA 3 pointer is 20'9".... NBA is 22'9"... Woah... Big diff there

The article says "St Bonaventure University in Buffalo"... How do we feel about that? He, or she, probably graduated from Duke, or Stanford....

Andrew's 3 point percentage in his first 4 NBA seasons has been: 2012-13 - 0% (no attempts) 2013-14 - 31.5% 2014-15 - 31.7% 2015-16 - 36.0% One can question how Andrew was utilized during his time in Orlando. But, describing his perimeter shot as developing sounds fair.

Nice game by AN tonight in the Wizard opener...19 minutes....nine points on 3 of 6 shooting including 1 of 2 from 3-point range and nine rebounds off the bench....Hopefully this is a sign of great things to come for the future of our man in a Wizards uniform....they happen to be my all-time favorite team since the days of the "Baltimore Bullets" and Earl "The Pearl" Monroe. Anyone have any ideas for Nicholson Wizards' jersey? Checked the Wizards store and they didn't seem to have any....

His numbers don't look as good as the first game, but last night he got the most minutes off the bench - 25.

Wizards get a W, but AN saw limited action. 7 mins, 0 pts. Last couple games have not been strong outings.

Why is Professor Nicholson on the bench tonight against the Celtics? He has only seen five mintues of playing time and the game has a minute left. Frustrated, I really wanted to see him play at least half the game or more.

Why is he in the doghouse - 3 DNPs in a row. When he plays he seems effective to me - Brooks won't play him this time after all the pre-season hype. Weird
