I went through the top 300 and did not see St Bonaventure.......I saw Canisius, Cornell, Elmira....but not us.
Click on the link in the previous post, and then on College Prowler and look at the list.....on the right margin you can make any number of selections, like "strictest" and so much more

There is no way SBU can not be in the top 300 coldest. That walk to classes from TH and Gardens was brutal in the winter. I think one January I was there it didnt get above 15 the whole damn month!

I don't think Bona is even close. Missing from this list were Dartmouth, University of Maine (Orono), Colby and numerous other colleges and universities in colder climates than Olean. Now, if it had been a list of colleges with the worst winter weather, I think you've got an argument. Add in the snow and persistent gray skies to the admittedly cold weather, and you probably have a winner. EDIT: Sorry, I just re-read your post. I thought you were referring to the list of 21. Since you are referencing the top 300, I drop my objection.

that middlebury college sure is in a beautiful setting...and some of those schools have buildings that have that nice, classic look...i could just picture some of those buildings replacing plassman (maybe 20 million or so could do the trick)...

Middlebury has an endowment of about $1 billion. The full cost of attending is $57,075 per year. Those numbers can buy a lot of pretty buildings.

Don't Bonaventure buildings have to be somewhat Italian in nature. Some have the tile roofs. I thought President Wickenheiser decreed that no more modern buildings be built at Bonas. Isn't the new business building and new science center made of the traditional brick that is in Devereau and Delaroche? The buildings that Middlebury has do not fit this tradition. Yes, I know he isn't president anymore, but have the rules been changed?

I can think of about 20 colleges in NY alone, that would make Bonas look like a tropical paradise. Ever experience Oswego in January? How about Paul Smith College in the adirondacks? I think it averages 30 below there in January. Then we have Potdsdam and several other northern adirondack-area colleges. We got it easy in this part of the state.

At noon today, Olean was 11 degrees warmer than Plattsburgh, NY. Tomorrow afternoon in the RC, it will be about 90 degrees warmer. Go Bonnies!

Must be those natural hot spring pools from the Allegheny surrounded by the picturesque mountains that raise the temperature of our campus. Ok it was wishful thinking.

The poll was based on actual conditions plus ratings by students. Apparently, Bona doesn't have as many whiners as some of the others.
I thought it was interesting that the top 2 are in Moorehead, MN, but North Dakota State, just across the river in Fargo, isn't mentioned.

I have a very painful memory of waking up one morning in Allegany and hearing a voice on the radio announce that it was 20 below. I did not attend class that morning.
Still, I kinda wish I was there today (and a lot of other days, too)

Here is a reason why Bona is not on the list. Last night it was 2 below zero. Now I'm getting ready to leave for Bona game, it is a beautiful sunny day and a balmy 29 degrees. I better put on some sun tan lotion, I don't want to burn.

You know today's opponent Cornell maybe be deserving of being on the list. Rumor says it was -11 in Ithaca last night.
