I saw him play in Atlanta several times. His defense, not his offense has always been the problem. He appears slow on defense and tries to make up for it by giving space. I believe it is the reason why his playing time has been cut. I hate to say it but I am not sure if it is something he can improve?

And then last night goes 8/9 from the field, 19 points, 5 rebounds and again "Sub of the Game". Appears the slump is over. One more game tomorrow night with Indiana. If he can finish strong he will have pulled out just in time and the Magic will work with him this summer to increase his weight again and work on defense.
They want him to be a power forward but he is really a 3.

I do think he can get big/strong enough to be an adequate defender of NBA 4's. (except when Carmelo is playing the 4) And I think with his offensive talent he could be a match-up problem for alot of NBA power forwards on the other end of the floor.

Andrew needs to be traded to progress to the next level. The Magic are at the bottom of the NBA barrel and their coaching is horrendous. This kid needs a mentor and he will not find him in Orlando under this regime.

I don't know what type of playing time AN has gotten this season...in the first half vs the bulls..he shot lights out as I mentioned above..his D was awful...carlos "no energy" boozer hit a couple of 15-18 footers over him with AN playing 2-4 feet off of him..then to add insult to injury..the bulls backup center, nazr muhammed hit a couple of 15 footers...when AN got more time in the 2nd half, he checked his man much closer which to me was a sign that either AN figured it out or a coach pointed it out to him. seems to me AN needs some serious off season working out..not necessarily all lifting either..more of a total body deal...he doesn't run very smoothly and has no upper body strength at all...when he chose to mix it up in the paint..he got manhandled...on the bright side..when ever he was in, the magic made nice runs--in the first half the magic was down 18..with AN on the court they got it down to 7 and in the 2nd half..they were down 15 and at one point it was a 5 point game..Orlando has talent..but they are all young pups

Completely disagree. If nicholson played great D along with his offense, don't you think he would get more playing time? Games are longer, shot clocks much shorter, floor extended with longer 3 pt shot in the nba. It's not that players don't play defense. More like, what's the point of fouling, for example, a player taking it to the hoop that might have gotten by you by a step? Risk an and 1 and a foul? No, save your energy, it's ok to give up points, play smarter next time defensively

Plus these guys have an 82 game season. College is like 1/3 of that with longer travel. Comparing defensive effort nba vs college is straight up silly
