I'm real excited that Jaylen Adams weighed all his options & decided, along with his parents Darryl & Yalonda, to take “The Good Journey” that only Bona can provide.
On Jaylen’s official visit a few weeks he arrived on campus & almost immediately tweeted out a picture of himself testing out the rims at the RC. Obviously after his visit to BU he felt Bona was the place to showcase his remarkable PG talents.
We now have two PGs from the same city that led their teams to the last FIVE CONSECUTIVE Catholic League City Championships. Iakeem Alston lead Dunbar to TWO and Jaylen led Mt St Joseph to THREE.
As a JUNIOR (2012-13) he had 11ppg AND EIGHT ASSISTS A GAME Wow! By all accounts he is a high character kid who takes care of the classroom as evidenced by his 3.7 GPA. Nice to hear that he likes working out with his dad. PG listed heights are often erroneous but I would say he is now a legit 6’1”.
Last season he had 15 ppg with 4 APG as he was the floor general for a 34-5 season, City Championship & #3 team in MD.
Jaylen Adams has been well coached by Pat Clatchey who finished up his 21st year with Mt St Joseph. Over that time he has graduated 32 DIV I athletes. This is a high quality school with high level coaching producing winning teams through the years. Jaylen had been the starting floor general for their past two championships & a solid contributor his soph year as well.
Just a few weeks ago at a DC/Balt All Star tourney he went for 27 pts with 5 treys. He is a true PG BUT is a scoring playmaker who hits the trey consistently from deep. In addition to his strong outside game his quickness gets him to the rim, with hops. Yes he dunks.
Jaylen was named to the Baltimore All City First Team along with his team mate Booth who is going to Nova.
It’s been a while since we had a 4 year point guard and Jaylen will be a good one.
Adam Bennett (RC Announcer) and Gary Nease (WPIG radio announcer) I'm sure will come up with a creative way of differentiang the two J Adams players while announcing the games.
