Al Cecchi passed away Friday. Al graduated from Bonas in 1949 and has been a strong supporter of the university for many years. He loved Bona basketball and kept his own scoresheet for each game. Al was a man of the highest quality. To know him was an honor and a privilege. Rest in peace, Al.

Well said Itbf! Mr. Cecchi will surely be missed! I know he is in heaven playing endless rounds of golf with my Dad, rooting for the Bonnies & Yankees!

Al was a part of my life from the time I had the COURIER EXPRESS route in Seneca Heights and caddied for him sometimes at Bartlett CC. On my eleventh birthday, we walked down to the driveway at Cecchi New Agency and I got to meet Sam Stith shooting hoops with Al in the afternoon. That night we went to the first game played in the new University Center when Sam's Harlem Wizards played an exhibition. The CE route stayed in my family for probably 20 years. Al told me during the second day of one Bartlett member guest tournament that you can't have more than one martini and expect to play good golf the next day. He didn't finish in the money that year. There are some that are tied with him but there are no bigger Bona fans than he was. His brother, who had a Big Band and played at many Bona events, was our family barber for years. RIP Al. You will always be remembered.
