Marcus Posley, a 6-foot-1 guard from Rockford, Ill., has signed a National Letter of Intent to enroll at St. Bonaventure University and play basketball.
Posley is currently a student-athlete at Indian Hills Community College in Iowa, where he played this past season after spending the 2012-13 season at Ball State University. He has two years of eligibility.
"We are thrilled that Marcus has joined our St. Bonaventure family," said Bonnies coach Mark Schmidt. "He's a guard who can really stretch the floor with his shooting ability. He was one of the best shooters in junior college this season, and he also has a season of Division I experience at Ball State. We are excited about Marcus' potential to help us immediately."
At Indian Hills, Posley averaged 13.5 points per game and made 90 three-point field goals in 35 games. Posley shot 38 percent from three-point range and 44 percent overall. He also averaged 3.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Indian Hills, which was ranked No.1 in the National Junior College Athletic Association polls during the season, fell 87-77 in the national title game to Jones County C.C., when Posley was injured and could only score two points.
At Ball State in 2012-13, Posley played in all 30 games and made eight starts, all of which came in the final nine games of the season. He averaged 6.5 points per game and led the Cardinals in assists (2.9 per game) and assist/turnover ratio (1.5). Posley, who scored a career-best 20 points at South Dakota, shot 28 percent from three-point range, making 32 three-pointers for the year.
Posley is the fourth student-athlete who will join the men's basketball team next season. He joins Iakeem Alston, a 6-foot-2 guard, Idris Taqqee, a 6-foot-4 guard, and Jordan Tyson, a 6-foot-10 forward.
