Not sure if it was on purpose but it seems respectful. You make it public that she was there without mentioning her by name and promoting it. You want to be respectful of her privacy and allow her to enjoy the events and community without hassle. You also don't want to detract from the alumni which are the whole reason for the weekend.

I see what you are saying, Pinnum. But, if they really didn't want to make it public, why would they print her picture. I just find it funny. I also would assume that the picture was posted/printed no earlier than Sunday, when the reunion was ending, reducing the risk of hassles.

With the OTH, one never knows. At least the caption was accurate.

It was nice to hear, but most of us were interested in connecting with our classmates.

The Reunion brought back so many memories, and of course almost 54 years since I entered as a frosh, there was a lot of catching up to do. Here is a quick remembrance to share with you. It was September 6, 1960....all freshman were to report for orientation week. The normal things for freshman, meeting classmates, and the normal orientation things (there were no summer orientations back then, most of us had never stepped foot on campus previously). But there was something else that 99% of you never faced and that was what we called "Rules". This was a set of freshman regulations that one could call "hazing", it was something where you became subjected to abuses (probably too strong a word) that was to build school spirit, character, and camradarie amongst the frosh. It was the happenings at Rules that was a subject of many of our class memories.
What were the Rules......here are some: You had to greet everyone with the "How's it Sir, welcome back to St Bonaventure" while wearing your dink (little hat) and tie and your signs (your name, major and hometown). Your hair was to be cut no longer than 1 inch, carry 10 lumberjack matches, limited access to campus (could not use the archway, center path through campus, use only one entrance to any of the buildings, like Hickey), after dinner freshman had to remain in the dining hall (all meals were served community style), then depart....we were screamed at as we made way to the front of Plassman, where we lined up for 30 minutes of harrassment (singing (we learned the alma mater, Unfurl the Brown & White, etc), shouting out all the things we were told to memorize.) We also had to do whatever the upperclassmen wanted......shine there shoes, wake them up, run errands for them, do laundry, etc. We were put in closets for hours, in Butler they would have "beat beatings" where we would be blindfolded....and yes we were afraid. Ask anyone who lived through Rules and you would hear some horror stories. If finally came to an end and we were integrated into the University.....how long did it last.....8-12 weeks was normal, my class was the last of real rules, but ended abruptly after 4 weeks, never to come back....the class of '65 had modified rules, but only a subset.
In today's society this would not be acceptable, in fact would probably not have any students. It was surely a different time, and the fondness we have for our university is strong, and I truly believe "Rules" made us better and stronger individuals.

fjs64 - Great post and brings back many great memories of wearing dinks and beanies, having to recite the fight song for any upper classman who asked for it. We also were required to wear name tags. Upper classmen also gave us a goal of the number of kegs we needed to consume at the frosh orientation dance. In addition we were told never to show any extraordinary respect for co-eds. We were thrilled if upper classmen from our floor invited us to sit with them at dinner in Hickey. Quite frankly we held upper classmen on pedestals, if ordered we would have crashed through walls on their command. The Brown Indian was probably equivalent to a Master Sgt. in that he could order us on missions against Canisius fans with a wave of the hand - very impressive leadership skills demonstrated here. I witnessed one Brown Indian in action outside the Aud, with his merry band of loyalists, what a demonstration indeed, as they cut through a throng of rowdy Canisius fans like a hot knife through butter. After a frosh orientation like that we quickly became hard core Bona fans, second to none.

Vanessa was tweeting all weekend about being at the Bonas reunion. She wasn't hiding it at all. And lets be real here, first of all the Olean Times-Herald is an embarassment to anyone who has ever taken a high school level journalism class, secondly, Vanessa is a borderline 'celeb'. She is well known, mostly for posing nude and having to resign as Miss America. She is a good singer and does well on Broadway, but it's not like Jennifer Aniston or one of the Kardashians was on campus LOL.

If one of the Kardashians was on campus I would have to reconsider my contributions to the university. They have no talent and are celebrities only due to their own ridiculousness along with our society. What i have heard of Vanessa Williams is that she is very spiritual and a strong Catholic. I would think that you would look for the good in such a high profile person taking part in Bona activities as a positive but i suppose you are perfect and never made a mistake. Oh you did when you considered the Kardashians celebrities. Remind me, what is their talent?

Having been involved with Ms. Williams on several occasions through my work I can say, without hesitation she is a delightful person.
