Oakland has seemed for several years to be a school looking to make a big splash in college sports and they have resources that we don't and couldn't compete with. I get that the resources might be better at a place like that, but it still would kinda suck to lose a guy to a pretty generic school in a pretty generic league.

I wonder if he applied for it or was approached (recruited)?

Isn't our AD's pay competitive with that? It should be. This is a position that's responsible for a large share of the university's budget, hiring, and management. Success in athletics is key to our brand and the incumbent has been especially good at understanding and nurturing it. Show him we care.

Its getting to seem like he really wants out. It would be one thing if he was mentioned like one time in five years, but in just one off season this is his like 3rd-4th position he has been a "finalist" for, no clue how many others he may have applied for. I wish him the best, but seems he really wants to move on, which makes me wonder if its a matter of advancing in his career or what....

This reminds me of Jim E. Midnight's interview circuit.
By the power of Greyskull, I dub thee "Stevie Wander"

This one is really puzzling to me. I did notice Loyola does spend a decent amount on their basketball program (138 out of 349). Bonaventure in comparison is (128 out of 349). This isn't really a step up type of job in my opinion though. Sure he might get paid a decent amount of money at Loyola, but it has to be a substantial amount higher considering this is Chicago being compared to Olean. It looks like he wants out of Bonas. I wish him the best if this is the case.

Watson has done a tremendous job while at SBU. I hate to jump the gun, but does anyone have a short list of potential candidates to replace SW if he leaves?

Pretty sure it's for real this time. I have been wondering about a list since this latest job came up.

I've known Steve for 30 years; having said that, we aren't close friends and I have no particular insight to his thinking. I look at the job he's taking and wonder about the motivation. I see a couple things: it's a bigger school in a huge market. If he's looking to make the big time in college sports, this is a bigger room to play and get noticed. My more fearful side suggests to me people in the inside are fearful about our future playing near-major college hoops. Whether it's our future in the A10 or the future of the A10, I don't know.
