Oh, yes, no criticism of this administration, allowed and throw in the political correctness angle too. Perfection does not warrant opposing views right? Read through the Bill of Rights sometime for a refresher, American is the free market of ideas and opinions. I know you official members of the Carney fan club/defenders of the realm/advocates of the inner circle/millionaires club will appreciate that angle. I hopy you find a way some day to deal with the bitterness you harbor.

No bitterness intended. When she reaches the 500 frosh mark, and moves the needle toward 600 frosh, all criticism of the saintly one will cease. Until that time she is fair game, as any CEO who does not meet corporate expectations, would be - correct? Or does the inner circle club have different rules for our temporary administrator as opposed say to Bank of America?

I suggest you set up an appointment with Sister Margaret or others in the Administration. Try your disrespectful or non-politically correct approach. I'm sure that approach will get you all of the respect you feel you deserve. I think firstdev already gets exactly the right amount of respect deserved.

in what year and how many was the highest freshman class? I'm wondering this, too. What are our historical numbers?

My 1985 freshman class was 630+ -- the 3rd largest in school history I recall learning at the time. Can't blame Sr. Margaret for Generation X and the eroding upstate NY economy ....

What person or area is responsible for recruiting numbers of incoming classes? What is considered target number for 2014? Did we hit it or fall short? Have we hit our target numbers the last 5 years? Anyone know this?

Being realistic, what size class can we bring in to be at max? I imagine when they plan numbers for townhouses and gardens, they plan certain size coming in. Given I guess that freshman can basically be thrown anywhere around campus, if usual retentions stay at average, I wonder aprox what the max amount of rooms/students will fit in a incoming class this coming year if all rooms were to be filled. (maybe even consider opening 5th dev back up? I have been up there.. besides the lingering isolation/(asbestos?) and random shopping carts, there wasnt a ton up there that couldnt be fixed to add more people... (does our enrollment consider those currently in 5th dev?)

5th Dev is not an option to my knowledge. As a student, I have always heard that (outside of crazy ghost stories) 5th Dev was shut down due to NYS imposing a law stating that buildings with more than four floors of people living on them need a sprinkler system. The university did not want to install the sprinkler system so they closed 5th Dev, therefore getting around the law. In the past few years, floors have been shut down due to not having enough students, so we are not close to using maximum campus space.

Transfers from other universities and from JC's do not count in the freshman classes. I wonder if the incoming freshman class figure wouldn't be more accurate if the transfers were included. Are the transfer numbers significant?

Are the transfer numbers significant? They also don't count in admissions stats. It has been my opinion that SBU should be more strict with admissions of freshmen coming from high school to boost the admissions stats which will help with attracting students but should be more relaxed when accepting transfers that have proved themselves at a community college or didn't perform as well as expected at another four year school.
