The folks at Utica's King of Kings have been tardy in updating their web site, but they have now updated through the games played on 9 July. Denzel Gregg's Utica Select are now 2-2 with a 102-96 victory over Hoops Fiend Select. Denzel scored 21 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and had 4 blocks. He was 9-16 from the field, including 1-3 from beyond the arc. Free throws are still an issue: 2-5. www.kingofkingsutica.org/#!men-week-4-results-/clqf

Nice showing by Denzel. Tough to score 21 pts with Lyons on the court. Lyons had been taking more than his share of shots in previous games.
Denzel had some dramatic blocks as a frosh last year. In spite of his just 7 mpg I can remember several jaw dropping ones. Excited to see his development next season as he is still just 18.

Have seen Denzel play on two occasions. His teammates include Demetrius Nichols (Syracuse, Cavaliers, Knicks, Bulls),Rashaun Freeman(UMass) (career high of 31 against SBU), Adam Kemp (Marist), Mark Lyons (Xavier, Arizona),and Edwin Ubiles (Siena, Wizards) Denzel is as athletic as anyone on the floor and the games include successful players at college and professional level. The games are physical and Denzel holds his own inside. Remaining games are 7/21/14 (6:30 PM) and 7/28/14 (6:30 PM) at Mohawk Valley Community College. Playoffs begin on 8/4/14 with championship game on 8/10/14.

This is incredible: NBA and Division I quality athletes playing in the ND high school and MVCC gyms! I hope my travel plans can be arranged to get up north to my hometown and take in one of Denzel's games.
