Whose "theory" besides yours is it that playing 3 games in Buffalo is going to open a pipeline to Toronto? It is 2014 Toronto is not some outpost that no one knows about. I think you need a little reality check in your expectations. Playing 3 games in Buffalo is not going to sell any kid on playing at SBU. The coaches will sell the school and theA10. Taking a financial bath in a city that doesn't care about them is not going to sell recruits. This might impress A Barry Atkinson, but it is not going to work on a Barry Mungar! Bona87 One nice feature about this board is it keeps history - we can check back here after thanksgiving weekend and see how close your prediction of a "near empty arena" is or my 12k figure Even if your guess of 12k is right, it's still going to feel quite empty with only 12k. The place holds close to 20k

Playing games within an hour drive for parents to see their kids play D1 athletics would be a carrot to offer parents when they consider making the college choice for their child - I don't consider that some new theory invented by me. And you are in the field of kids/parents making college choices and you don't consider distance to be an important variable in the process? And it might be even more important when that child plays a D1 sport and the family can see them compete? You really don't think distance played a factor in Andrew's decision? JH, Distance is absolutely a factor in college choice and I do think distance from Ontario to SBU played a part in the choice for Andrew. My point was playing 3 games in a nearly empty arena in Buffalo (at a big cost to Bonas) will not influence recruits from Canada to come. If you have three national teams that will come there to play us in non conference please let the athletic department know as they have tried for years to get one game there or in Rochester and have had no luck. Why Rochester is far superior for one of those games (if we can get them) is that the alums step up and sponsor and we actually make money. I am sure you will be checking the attendance. Now is this a Price is Right thing? I have stated 6000 you have stated 12,000. If the attendance is 5999 do neither of us win because we both went over? I will give you the win if over 9000 even if you did go over . If it is under 9000 I am going to claim victory. I have stated I hope it sells out so that really would be a victory for all. I have also purchased three tickets already so only 8997 left before you can claim victory.

I see - its a Rochester vs Buffalo issue for you? Incredible..
Rochester game played on a Saturday afternoon (Bona vs Niagara) drew 4700 people and that was just off our magical NCAA year. Is that the whopping figure that must make us always play in Rochester rather than try Buffalo?
Last year a doubleheader in Buffalo in a lake effect storm on a week night drew 4500 and that was without the biggest draw St Bonas - and the conclusion to be drawn is that Buffalo cant draw and Rochester is the only place for college hoops?
Very glad that you can pull yourself away from watching your Price is Right to make the game and a great idea that you and KC bought your tickets so early - obviously you both expect tix to sell like hot cakes and I agree!!

Even if your guess of 12k is right, it's still going to feel quite empty with only 12k. The place holds close to 20k Tasty I have seen where they 'dark out' the upper deck not selling any seats there and brings the capacity more towards 15k mark i'd guess

I was at that doubleheader that night and maybe 4500 tickets were sold but the crowd was only around 2500-2800 people. Even the newspapers mentioned that. In fact when i got off the train and was walking toward the arena some guy gave me two tickets and told me to enjoy. He said he could not even sell them so he might as well give them away.
