Rhode Island is about to get much taller. They just got their 3rd verbal (in the last ten days) from a big man. URI has now used 3 out of it's 4 available scholarships: Verbals so far: 6'8" Cyril Langevine (NJ) 6'9" Mike Layssard Jr (LA) 6'10" Michael Tertsea (MD) The last scholarship is expected to be used on a PG. The Bonnies won't be competing with URI for any more recruits this year. Rhode Island got a verbal this past Sunday from 6'3" PG Jeff Dowtin from DC. Their recruiting for next year is now closed unless they unexpectedly lose someone.

Don't think I can remember ever seeing this before, but we have no official visits that I am aware of in October of the early signing period. In my mind for us to excel, we must get one or two commitments in the fall to keep a strong and competitive A-10 roster.
Is it that we have commitments and are waiting for them to qualify, or are we getting beaten by lesser programs and conferences. This has never been our strong suit, but as a reminder, we will lose Posley and Wright, two starters going into the 2016-2017 season. I don't like some of the examples we are showing such as identifying NY guard Travis Aston very early, and once he started gaining attention, we back off and don't contact the recruit for months.
I really hope I am dead wrong, but I clearly don't like the looks of this!

Actually we already have in the system replacements for both Posley and Wright in Matt Mobley, who averaged 17 pts at D-1 Central Ct and David Andoh , who averaged 10 pts and 6 boards at D-1 Liberty. Both will practice with the team all year and will have an immediate and positive impact next year. We have 4 spots left for 2016 and I am confident Coach Schmidt will fill those spots this fall or in the spring like he always does. With a hopefully healthy Jordan Tyson returning and only losing Dion and Marcus, the future is incredibly bright in my opinion. What's not to like?

Sorry to disagree but I am not comfortable with Having any player for one year! Yes it can work per a Kevin Houston type, but it is not the correct sustaining way to recruit. That factored along with trying to fill your roster in the summer is a recipe for eventual failure!

W We have three sophomores and three freshman on this years rooster, four of whom should be starting or seeing major minutes this season. Of those six we have a potential starting point guard, power forward, and center for the 2018/2019 season. I am very optimistic about where this program is heading.

Not sure if this is the right thread but George Washington just got a commitment from a 5' 3" point guard Darnell Rogers he will be fun to watch! If I was a betting man I would assume that he is related to a former GW guard, 5'4" Shawnta Rogers en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawnta_Rogers

Saw that Sip. When I saw the last name and the height (lack of), I was wondering if there was any relation. Sure enough, according to the article, son of Shawnta, GW 95-99. This guy made Tim Winn look pretty tall lol
