I dont see the day off for feast of St Francis - why? It seems odd that we boast ourselves as the First Franciscan University in the USA and that we have brought in the Clare College Curriculum yet we do not designate a day off classes for St Francis? In Assisi its a huge day - I believe the Pope made a pilgrimage to Assisi last year for it - yet we treat that day as business as usual? So exams must begin Dec 8th rather than Dec 9th? Which is a bit ironic since Dec 8th is its own holy day - also no mention of Nov1 All Saints Day or Nov 2 All Souls Day? We are Franciscan and we are Catholic - nothing on the calendar reflects that..... are we too busy scolding the students to take all these extra Clare courses to forget that the school itself could use a few reminders?

As I recall, I did not go to class on October 4, but, as my transcript reflects, that could have been for reasons other than the feast of St. Francis.

Had my dink & tie and signs on display for my 50th reunion......the calendar is included in the Student handbook for the year 1960-1961.....may have to donate them to the university archives. Yea, I have a few old things....including myself. Have the Student Directory for the same year....and your address and phone number from where you lived in Flushing.

Was Veterans's Day a day off from classes? I'm seriously wondering since we didn't have off for any of those days in the late 90's. All Saints and Immaculate Conception were been Holy Days of Obligation that were observed on campus with masses, but not days off from academic activities.
