It was a good turnout of 50+. They talked a lot about the Big 4 doubleheader and their hope for a big crowd. Steve Watson spilled the beans that all of the teams will be wearing special uniforms for the games and that Bonas will be sort of a tribute to the first Buffalo Braves jerseys. Those snazzy black and orange jobs. There will be a joint press conference in the next few weeks starting the promotion for the games and revealing all the uniforms. Sounds like they are trying to give this thing every chance to succeed and that an annual event is not out of the question. At this point, Bonas has only committed to one year. Mark did not talk in any specifics about the newcomers but that he does expect to fill the gaps caused by losing Matthew, Charlon and Marquise. He complimented his assistant coaches and their ability to recruit under the radar guys. He brought up one amazing point that of the 35-40 recruits brought in during his 8 years at Bonas, not one had an offer from another A10 team. Seems almost impossible to believe. He also said that he has been getting a lot of calls from NBA scouts and GM's about Youssou. Steve Watson sat at our table and I asked him about his recent job interview and how I was glad he was still at SBU. I also asked him if the administration had addressed his contract status and he assured me that they had. He also told me that family happiness is important to him as you would expect and that his kids are quite happy there. I left with the impression that Steve is going to be at Bonas for a long time, which I view as tremendous news. All in all, a very good event that had us pumped for the season to start. Practice starts Sunday.

Some of the comments in your post, 83, spurred some thoughts:
It's interesting that none of our recruits had offers from other A10 schools, but that also means we lost on every one that did.
I really hope Watson was sincerely expressing his intention to be around for a while. Something made him look elswhere. The only two observations I can make are 1)that the athletic field campaign has become a phase 1 + phase 2 project. I didn't think that was the original thought. 2) I haven't seen much about the BAF 15 by 16 campaign lately.
In regards to BAF fundraising: there doesn't seem to be much effort devoted to asking for money. I don't get renewal letters, and when I went to the website today to get the form, the one posted still has 2013-2014 on it. There is a place to donate online, but I want to send in a matching gift form too, so I'd like to use the donation form. There just doesn't seem to be much active solicitation going on among the "rank and file" givers. Last minute appeals in May so a matching gift can be earned are not the way to do it.

It is impossible since Walter Gregg actually signed with Fordham.

Wow that is great news about Steve Watson. The guy is a gem. Glad to read that he will be here for an extended period of time. He and Mark and the staff have done a super job of getting us back in the A10 game in all sports, after the debacle of a decade ago. Keep up the super work.

Correct Swede.
Youssou visited DUKES the week end before Bona. We showed him video of our win over them which I'm sure helped.

But did he have an offer from the Dukes?
