We are going to be very pleasantly surprised at just how good this team is going to be this year - barring injuries. Jim Crowley could be taking this team on a very long trip. Healy and Nyla are the real deal.

Healy and Nyla are the real deal. I agree this is a team that won 24 games and returns their 3 leading scorers (all double digit scorers). There were times Katie Healey was unstoppable in the paint. Team will be starting three 6'1" players with Katie Healey, Hannah Little and Gabrielle Richmond. Bonnies have the potential to be a force underneath. The Bonnies have the best inside out duo in the A-10 with Healey and Nyla Rueter. Katie Healey is A-10's leading returning scorer for conference games at 18.1 ppg and by a large margin Nyla Rueter has the best shooting percentage from 3s at 45.8%. www.atlantic10.com//ViewContent.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=31600&CONTENT_ID=854452

Congratulations to Katie and Nyla. The women should have a terrific team this year and I'm glad the College Sports Madness site is recognizing some of our talent. They did a horrible job on the men, however. I am assuming the Bonnies will not be one of the top 18 teams to be named in their pre-season top 144. So here are the opposing teams they have ranked above us: 144-Fordham 127-SJU 121-Siena 108-Delaware 103-LaSalle 81-Duquesne 76-Davidson 63-GW 57-URI 42-UMass 35-Richmond 29-Pitt 27-Dayton VCU has not yet been ranked but will undoubtedly and deservedly be one of the remaining 18. I expect the Bonnies to beat the vast majority of those teams ranked above us and am hoping for a clean sweep. Of course, it's all pure speculation and hope until we see how we match up against real opponents. www.collegesportsmadness.com/mens-basketball/top-144-previews

Not sure I like College sports Madness women's picks either. Had Dayton in the top 25 but no other A10 team in the top 44. Last year the conference had three teams in the top 44 RPI at the end of the season. Mackenzie Loesing form UB was named to the 3rd team All-High Major team while Katie Healy was only picked for the 4th team. While averaging a solid 16.3ppg last year, Loesing shot 36% from the field and a dismal 22% from three point range making 40 shots in 184 attempts. Also had 64 TO and 40 assists. In comparison, Nyla shot 44% from the field and a great 40% from three making 49 in 129 attempts. Also had a positive assist to turnover rate with 71 assists and 67 TO. Makes no sense to compare stats for a guard and forward,, I'll just say that Katie Healy has the potential to be the best player ever to come out of the Buffalo area. Excited to see this year's team with the added depth. Chuck you expect the team to start Gabby and Hannah with Katie? I thought maybe those three would share the 80 minutes available at the power positions and the team go with a three guard lineup. Was impressed with this teams toughness last year especially in the comeback wins against Green Bay and Duquesne. Saw the famous lock down defense at times last year but the team just did not have the depth to play with that intensity night after night for 40 minutes. This year the team should have some good depth and should enter the season with a lot more confidence.

Starting Line-up-my prediction:
F-Healy F-Little F-Drummond(6'1" and can hit the three, Richmond and Little can not), could be Zahn SG-Rueter PG-Ruff(NYS Player of the Year, not going to ride pine, significant better offensive option)
very good depth at all positions:
PG-EM, Outlaw SG-Zahn, Rombach SF-Zahn,Rombach, Britvar F-Richmond(1st off bench at all the forward positions), Britvar, Shull

Healy and Rueter are givens.......then the question marks. I understand how good Ruff is, but starting day 1 may be too much, but she will get starters minutes. Emily Michael is the returning starter, don't think she will lose the job immediately. Last year Richmond/Healy started with Little off the bench. Hannah provides a tremendous spark and I like her coming off the bench.....unless Gabby has not fully recovered, then Hannah will start. The 3 position becomes a real question mark. Last year Chelsea Bowker did a great job even though she had ankle problems all year, and with Ashley Zahn returning, I think it is her position to lose as we need her experience and outside threat. Although her shooting may make her a great "6th man" adding immediate spark. Drummond is good, but think she needs more experience at a high level of competition before she is ready. Britvar and Schull need experience, and Matea was injured last year so I think she needs more time before her true value can be determined. Don't know about Schull's game, I believe she is very athletic and quick and will be a defensive specialist (she was outstanding as a volleyball player). Can't forget about Outlaw....her game improved tremendously as last season wore on, so she will get key minutes and may be 2nd off the bench for the backcourt. Rombach has 2 years of experience in the Crowley system so she will add valuable minutes during the season. It is fun to predict starting lineups, but I am not there to evaluate. I do agree that they will be a tremendous team and should bring Crowley another 20 win season and another NCAA invitation.

Chuck you expect the team to start Gabby and Hannah with Katie? I thought maybe those three would share the 80 minutes available at the power positions and the team go with a three guard lineup. The 4 best returning players are the 3 double digit scorers (Katie, Hannah and Nyla) and Gabby who averaged 10.4 ppg until her injury. Gabby started every game (23 games) until her injury. Bonnies were just 4-3 in conference games without Gabby. With Gabby they beat LaSalle by 23 points without Gabby they lose to LaSalle by 6 or how with Gabby they beat Fordham by 7 without Gabby they lose by 41. Point is Bonnies are a lot better team with Gabby in the starting lineup. Hannah is the team's 2nd leading scorer and she started 11 of the last 12 games. It is difficult to see her returning to the bench. You mention sharing the 80 minutes in the low post between 3 players, well there needs to be minutes for 6'1" Matea Britvar, who I hear is Crowley's best recruit. I think there has to be significant time where the lineup on the floor has Katie, Hannah and Gabby. If I had to choose only 2 it would be Katie and Gabby with Hannah returning to her so called "6th man" role. Bonnies have a lot of depth in the post. My prediction for starting lineup Katie Healey Gabby Richmond Hannah Little Nyla Rueter Ashley Zahn gobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/w-baskbl/2013-14/files/TEAMCUME.HTMgobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/w-baskbl/2013-14/files/plyr_14.htmgobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/w-baskbl/2013-14/files/plyr_11.htm

A "real treat" to have Chuck chime in on WBB!!
I like Hannah and Zahn coming off the bench together to provide a second "inside-outside" combination. Although, I have Zahn starting by default to provide senior presence/leadership!
Healy, Britvar Richmond/Little Zahn/Rombach/Drummond/Shull Rueter/Outlaw Michael/Ruff

With all the positive speculation about lineups, PT, etc., one good thing I can see for sure coming down the pike with these ladies - you're only going to need "1 ball" for them to play with!!!

Last year depth was an issue with only 9 schloraship players (Ashley Zahn missed the whole season), especially when Gabby Richmond had her injury. This year with the added depth I expect a terrific season.....A10 predicts 4th......I think that is lower than I expect

FJS,
The prediction of 4th seems a little low as well. But when you think about the team there are real question marks at two positions, PG and SF. When you also factor in all the players coming back from injury, Zahn, Richmond and Britvar along with the other freshman, we won't really know what we have for about 5-6 games.
I believe they are going to win 20 this season but I also look at this as building year for a truely special season in 2015-16. Healy, Rueter, EM and Little's senior season and a full season of experience for Ruff, Drummond and Britvar. If they gel sooner, this year could be another special year too.
Fourth, just may be the right early prediction but come A-10 time................could they be dancing?!
