Obviously, Dayton is class of the conference; G.W. has two of the top 10 players in Jones and Washington and a comparable guard to Rueter in a former teammate of Britvar's. St. Joseph's only received 3 more points than Bonnies, so fourth is pretty close to tied for third -- again, St. Joe's with two of the conference's top 10 players. As pointed out, we do have question marks, so I think fourth is pretty respectable per the league's coaches.

Once again too many dismiss Emily's contributions to this team.last year she shut down the top two scorers in the conference in consecutive games. Many think she is expendable because of a lack of scoring. She doesn't lose the ball and sees the open shooter. Zahn has disappointed me the three years she has played. She has not shot well for someone who was recruited as a shooter. I will be very surprised if a freshman starts any time except in an injury situation. The starters from last year have proven their toughness. Go Bonnies!

Emily will get her minutes early in the season but passing up open shots and even layups won't cut it if the Bonnies want to compete at a high level. Mariah Ruff is a heady guard who I hope works her way into some serious minutes. Looking for Matea Britvar to push Richmond for playing time. Britvar comes from a top national program. This could be a very interesting year.

This may be a lot of pressure to put on Ruff before she has even played a game but for this team to be special this year and next, she has to special!! If she can't unseat EM well....they will still be good but not what I really believe they can be.
Now, I think MRuff will be able to handle the pressure..........she faced nothing but double and triple teams her whole HS career and still managed to win NYS POY.
The future is bright

Crowley's comments from the Rochester Coaches luncheon...
"Bonnies women's coach Jim Crowley also spoke at the luncheon. He was surprised that his team was picked fourth in the preseason coaches poll.
"We were (tied for) second last year and have everyone back," he said.
Among those returning from that 24-11 team is redshirt senior Ashley Zahn (Canandaigua), who sat out last season but started 17 games in 2012-13 and averaged 6.3 points.
"She has undergone three surgeries on her right shoulder," Crowley said. "The pain she goes through, the extra stretching . . . it's motivating for our other players to watch that.""

This could answer some of our questions about Zahn from today's Roch event:

Schedule is a killer though. Play Toledo, James Madison, Penn State, UB, Niagara, and Georgetown on the road. Not inconceivable that they could go 7-6 or 8-5 in non-conference games. A10 schedule always tough. Play Fordham, Duquesne, and UMass in the home and homes. Not bad match ups this seaon. This team will be much better this year due to the additional depth and experience. Just not sure that the improvement will translate into moe wins or a 20 win season.
