I heard about the throwback idea a few weeks ago and was pumped and then today I saw we will be wearing orange. Is it just me or is that kind of strange? Not really sure why we couldn't keep the jersey concept but make ours brown.

Rolling out the mid-thigh shorts? Should be interesting to see how authentic these throwbacks are...

Just doesn't do anything for me! If retro has some cache, I would have preferred "throw backs" from each teams own uniforms.

Maybe the orange uniforms can squeeze a little more juice for a big victory.

Is Buffalo making a big play to become "New York?" I know they have had it on their home court, but I don't remember seeing that on their uniforms.

Yes, the University at Buffalo wants to be known as the State's Flagship. It was actually a part of Spitzers initiative to make Buffalo and Stony Brook the SUNY flagships before he was forced out of office. The SUNYs do not want a flagship and each area of the state wants to protect the resources going to their local SUNY affiliate. Buffalo, in large part, is trying to make a go at it alone. Their UB2020 plan is not shy about becoming the State's flagship but I thought I heard they were not permitted to refer to themselves in that way and had to go by Buffalo, which is why they started using the State University of New York Buffalo logo with the New York part being emphasized in large letters. It is a nice little work around. Though I don't know how effective it will be. (Mobile)

I'm intrigued by the logistics. Did the Clippers have to sign off on this? Presumably the NCAA gave the uniforms their go-ahead. But I've never heard or seen anything like this: using a professional albeit defunct franchise as a model for jerseys.

I don't know of any NCAA rule regarding uniforms that would prevent any of this. They are putting the SBU name on the uniform.
I wonder if the Clippers just didn't renew their trademark. I mean, they left Buffalo nearly 40 years ago and LA is their third home.
I like the idea as a marketing stunt to draw some attention to the event but that's all it is, in my opinion. It may get some attention from ESPN or other media outlets as a result and that is fine but outside of reminding people that Buffalo was once a top basketball city, it doesn't do too much. But I am fine with that. Any little bit helps. I have to applaud the effort and new ideas.

Eddie Donovan after leaving the Bonnies in 1961 to coach the NY Knicks, became the General Manager of the Buffalo Braves, so the tie-in for the Bonnies/Braves is extensive..... "In 1970, Donovan left to become the general manager of the NBA’s Buffalo Braves (1970-75), where he was named the NBA “Executive of the Year” for the 1973-74 season" buffalosportshallfame.com/member/eddie-donovan/
