Good job SBU TV.
And a rowdy crowd.

It's amazing people keep calling for more Jalen Adams floor time. Are you watching the games? Posely is best player on team and most reliable down the stretch. Jalen plays behind Posely. He'll get his chances. Not tonight. Not when Posely is carrying the team. besides, he looked lost out there tonight. Let him sit and learn. What do you want Schmidt to do?

It's not about wanting coach to play someone who isn't ready. The question is why does this incredibly hyped redshirt freshman who had a year to practice with the team seem this unready.

Game was entertaining. YN seems to be trying to get more involved. We miss Gathers. I think Adams #10 is going to be a very good player for us as he has a decent handle and confidence in his shot. Don't think he turned the ball over and as a whole I think we handled the ball well. The guy's who are not getting playing time like Adams #4 must not be getting it done in practice. It's early in the season and things will sort themselves out. Schmidt needed this win. We are preseason projected #10 in our league so maybe our biased reports have us expecting more. Jackson St. will be looking for a W on Tuesday. All in all I was dreading a loss about halfway through the first half and glad things turned around for us. Maybe these kids got the message vs Siena. Just because you lace the sneakers up doesn't guarantee any victories for the Bonnies.

Answer: Because he's a redshirt freshman, and fans' expectations are too high. I think Ndoye will benefit the most from Gathers' return. They have great chemistry on and off the court, and Jordan is comfortable feeding Ndoye in positions where Ndoye can be productive. Tough night shooting for Andell again. But the rest of his numbers are very positive: 6-6 from the line; 6 rebounds; 1 block; 1 steal; 6 assists; 2 turnovers. I like his game, and I'll like it even more when the shots start falling.

Expectations too high? I'm not going to get into trashing one of our own, but give me a break. There is a lot of room between being all-league and what we've seen thus far. If we get into a track meet maybe things will turn around, but the early book on the Bonnies is to eat up clock and clog the middle. Hope it turns arouhd but it's undeniable the difference between what's been advertised and what's happened on the court thus far

Silly me, I thought this year our team would be really deep. Five from the bench saw the floor today, and they played a total of 22 minutes, which works out to a bit more than 4 minutes each. In that time they went 0-5 from the floor and grabbed one rebound and one steal while giving up one turnover and one foul. I hope Coach can get them up the learning curve before the A10 schedule starts. Other than that, I'm happy the starting five did what we needed. Congratulations, team and coaching staff on a hard-fought victory.

Great adjustments at half by staff and execution of these adjustments by players. Not as many open looks for the GRIFFS in second half. JAYLEN should have had a few more assists today, a few nice inside passes were not handled well. The team needs to work on the mini-Alley-Oop passes to YOUSSOU, at least 3 times attempted and 3 times failed due to not enough air under the ball, YOUSSOU is the tallest player out there, throw the passes higher!

Hats off to Coach Schmitt and his Staff! Up by 10, down by 10 - these fine young Men stepped up and played well enough to win the game!
Go Bonnies

The game is archived......nice to rewatch the first 5 minutes...that 10-0 lead could have even been bigger.
An observation....in the 3 games thus far we have outscored the opponent 24-7 in the first 4 plus minutes of each game.
The Box Score and Recap stated that Dion Wright played 40 minutes, but he was subbed out at 13:43 of the 1st half and returned about 1 minute and 18 seconds later, and X was credited with 0 min it should have been 1 minute.

Schmidt has said all along he's an athlete who's basketball skills need to catch up. He's three games into his career. Don't fret too much over "what we've seen thus far."

Route16 - I agree with your points, but the thing I think that's causing concern is the lack of playing time for a kid who clearly needs it, so the thought is that maybe he is not doing the things the staff wants at practice to earn the time on the court. Presumedly, the surprisingly strong and mature play of Jay A. and Posely, plus the overall strong game being shown by Andell, have combined to cut into Jalen's time, but it is still worrisome Jalen cannot get more PT this early. Hopefully as he makes more of the opportunities he gets, that will force a change.
BTW, regarding Jalen, is anyone seeing evidence of this supposed 40 inch vertical? I was expecting more of a high-flyer with some monster dunks, boards, alley-oops, that kind of thing that I just have not seen yet. Don't get me wrong, I like what I have seen so far in the short spurts, but I have just not seen that kind of leaping ability displayed yet, and that kind of thing usually stands out on the court.

cerhav I believe Jalen's playings time will depend on the amount of zone D we see. I watch him in warmups and to me his shot is very erratic. There is a role for a slasher against a zone D, from what I saw in the last two games he appeared a bit lost as to how he can use that ability against the zone. Or maybe its because the team as whole is learning their roles against the zone D. He is a slasher, scorer but not a shooter. If he keeps working, I think he will have his breakout game sooner than later. But, his role needs to be defined and he needs to stick to that role.

If Jalen Adams is not getting the playing time he expected he really needs to figure out why. I can't see how you put Posley on the bench unless Jalen has outplayed him and at this point that has not happened. Also, he is in his first year, game 3. You make the most of your opportunities and good things will happen. Posley has been knocking down threes and other than Jay Adams he seems our only consistent shooter from outside. Jay Adams has been the best looking freshman point guard we have brought in for some time. Will be interesting to see how he handles tougher competition but he seems very poised on the court and has shown he can drain the 3 pointer.
