Played the worst 30 minutes after leading 13 - 0 that a Crowley team could play.....over 20 turnovers, missed freethrows.....UB 51 - 44. No flow, no offense, just downright awful.
27 Turnovers

That's no typo by fjs64...YES, 27 TURN OVERS!!!
Handling the ball has been a problem all season for the 7-3 Bonnies but tonight took it to new heights. In spite of that the game was tied inside 5 mins but our continued TOs, missed shots & FTs allowed the 7 pt loss.
The D was one of the few things working tonight as it held Buffalo to 17 pts below their average. But their zone, expecially the 1-3-1 late, played havoc with our flow which was lateral movement resulting in 34% shooting & 0-11 from beyond the arc.
So the gals 7 year sweep of the lil 4 ended tonight.
Clearly Coach Crowley knows what needs to be worked on to demonstarte that our #4 ranking in the A10 is underestimating this young team.

Sad to see the team play so out of control, I have never seen so many turn overs. 27? Sad loss for the lady Bonnies, where do they go from here? How do you practice to take care of the ball?

Guard play beyond bad tonight. 4pts. and 11 turnovers. 27 turnovers for the whole team. They have a lot of work to do when it comes to taking care of the basketball. Mariah Ruff adjusting to the college game. For this team to compete at the upper level of the A10 guard play will need to improve in a big way.

Have been waiting for this game for the past year. Last year's overtime game was such a great game. Expectations for both teams this year were high with each team returning 4 starters. UB has been a major disappointment and was ranked in 200s in the Sagarin ratings. Mackenzie Loesing last year's preseason Big 4 player of the year was benched tonight apparently due to her poor shooting This turned out to be one of the worst basketball games I've ever watched. Bonaventure's defense is so good when they are able to set up. Not all that good in transition so limiting turnovers is so important. 27? Never have seen that from a Crowley team. Team was 0-11 from three. Had numerous looks from the outside that were passed up and Em, Ashley, and Nyla didn't seem to have any confidence In their shots. This team really misses Chelsea Bowker a lot more than I thought they would. Only 2 points from the bench. If this team is going to be better than .500 this year, they will need a consistent outside shooter and someone to step up off the bench.

It may be a tall order but the Lady Bonnies need to recruit a playmaking guard in the mold of Alaina Walker. She could break the press , distribute the ball , go to the hoop , play great defense , rebound and take care of the ball. She had an underrated 10 to 15 ft. jumpshot which she didn't take nearly enough . Okay Santa it's up to you!

Last night, the enormous amount of turn overs came mostly from our bigs not the guards. Ruff had only 1 TO. Only Emily, typically sure handed with the ball, had a rare bad night for our guards. Their 1-3-1 zone caused us fits.
This team is quite different from Crowley’s teams in the past. Key areas that are a departure are how they push the ball. In the past they ran clock. They have a higher rate # of turnovers (16.4). Caring for the ball used to be a strength. Our trey shooting, once depended on, is missing.
Two areas where they are far better is rebounding & inside scoring.
I think the trey shooting will come around after a horrendous 0-30 start to the season. Addressing the turn over problem may be more of a challenge. Our 3 bigs account for more than half our TOs this season. That must & will improve.
Gabby is a presence in side & as a soph she will just get better rebounding the ball. However she has to make better decisions on when & how often to shoot. She is 4th in mins played but has taken almost the same # of shots as leader Katie who shoots 49% & she has shot more than Hannah dropping in 46%. Gabby is hitting just 33% (almost all in the paint). Curtailing some of her out of control shots will put the ball in the hands of far better shooters. No doubt last night's TO #s jump off the stat sheet. They were a huge factor in the loss. But Buffalo, a 26% trey shooting team, had an unusually hot night dropping 5/12 (42%). Their 15 points from beyond the arc to our ZERO was a dagger.
