Quick turnaround for the Brown and White. They need a game this quickly to erase the stench of Monday's game at Buffalo. The Bonnies beat UNC-Greensboro last year at their home. The game will be streamed for both video and audio. This will be game 2 of a 4 game stretch over a week, as Crowley said, they call it their NBA like schedule. gobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/w-baskbl/2014-15/releases/20141216gykmin

Agree its best to get back on the floor after last night's loss.
UNCG will present enormous problems to us on their offensive glass. 3 players are suberb offensive rebounders. They have taken an amazing 77 more shots than their opponents due to their ponding the offensive glass.
Timpton leads the assault. An incredible 60% of her rebounds are off their misses. Our ability to Box out with amazing effectiveness will go a long way to a victory.
They are a team that steals the ball a lot so we will get a strong test on what we failed at last night (Buffalo had 15 steals many created by the 1-3-1).

This is a great game for Gabby Richmond to focus on rebounding and take a few high percentage shots. She's struggled on offense lately. The whole team needs to focus on rebounding but would love to see are big 3 all at around 10 boards. Going from 27 turnarounds to low teens will help insure a victory. Lastly I want Emily to take a couple open 3's she's a better shooter than she believes. It's a confidence issue for her in my opinion. Giving Miranda Drummond more minutes would be wise. She's athletic and we will need her as the season progresses.

Win 78-60. Still too many turnovers. Played a mostly guard oriented lineup.
Turnovers reduced from 27 to 22.

Not sure what I just watched. I've never seen a Crowley team take such poor care of the basketball. What I do know is that Ruff and Drummond deserve to be in the starting lineup. They'll make mistakes but we need their offense and athletic ability. Emily and Gabby deserve minutes too but they both have limited offensive skills. Hannah Little needs to reel in her dribbling it's creating lots of turnovers. They need to watch some film and recognize their turnover problem. Dayton will eat them alive if they play like this. Good luck coach their's much work to do.

Due to our turn over problem this game especially worried me since UNC Greensboro plays a very aggressive, ball sniping D, resulting in a very high # of steals. Also their ability to dominate the glass & routinely take 7 more shots a game was a concern.
Well the message to focus on board play resulted in us outrebounding them by 9 but they still hit the offensive boards hard for 14 carooms.
With Katie scoreless in the first half it was amazing we were up by 4 & with them hitting 4 of 9 treys.
The first half story was the play of freshman Mariah Ruff & Miranda Drummond who combined for 19 big pts. Mariah saw her first start & responded splendidly right out of the gate. She went for a team high 17 pts on 6-12 and 3-6 TREYS. Add 6 rebs & 3 assists & you have one heck of a frosh career start. She played a team high 32 mins & against a gambling, quick, & physical D she had only 3 TOs matched with 3 assists. Miranda had 7 pts (all in the first half when needed)on 3-4 shooting.
Katie was really frustrated the first half going scoreless after missing several bunnies. Second half was an entirely different story as she conquered her frustration & put up 16 points & ended with 8 boards. Our D held them 6 points under their average & was extremely effective inside the arc. It was their treys that kept them in the game for a while.
This young team will continue to develop as roles & players gell. Tonight 9 players saw significant mins & the bench provided 24 points. Very different than the men's side.
Congrats to Mariah who had a wonderful 1st career start. Nice to see a frosh lead the team in scoring while hitting 50% from inside and oustside the arc.

If I wouldn't have looked at the scoreboard, I would have thought that SBU was losing. They played very loose with the ball, but they obviously did enough other things right to win by 18pts.
UNC-G employed a suffocating full court press. They fronted their "man" so strongly that many times a 1/2 court or 3/4 pass with some zip would have resulted in an easy layup. But, the passes had so much "air" that UNC-G had plenty of time to recover for steals or tipped passes. Sometimes it was lazy passing, but often it was just lack of arm strength of the passer. They will need to work against the press with short quick passes and split the double team with the dribble. What was more disturbing to me was some girls taking the "YMCA" dribble and getting trapped as they picked up their dribble. Probably panic with younger players, but some vets did the same. This happened in the half-court, too, and not just against the full court press.
Coach C will get it fixed. They are 8-3 and young team that is still learning.

For the concern about the rebound margin, SBU got a higher percentage of the available offensive boards than UNC-G. Its easier to put up a big number when you're missing 46 shots in a game.

oldcoach....Good point on lack of strength to produce the long passes with zip to beat the full court used the entire 2nd half. That's when we turned it over 14 times.
No doubt teams will look to press us so this young team will get lots of practice executing ways to break it. Our keeping the dribble alive & coming back to the ball will get better.
