There is no other way to put this: Binghamton is awful. I mean, really, really awful. Here's to hoping this is the first of at least three straight wins for our boys and this game is more or less over with 20 minutes left to play. Safe travels to all those fans making the trip down there...I'm expecting it's going to be a pro-Bonas crowd with their students on break. Preview below with lots of harsh words on how bad they are and not a whole lot of scouting to be really honest. thebonablog.com/2014/12/18/behind-enemy-lines-binghamton/ www.thebonablog.com

This team (Binghamton) is absolutely lost right now but what scares me is that they have young talent. They have no clue what they are doing right now. They aren't getting beat by 30 plus a night though. I hope you are right on your prediction but they are better talent wise than their record reflects. Bonas will win by about 15 because that's about what bu does. If the score is in the 20's at half this game will be scary. Expecting a big bona crowd, I personally went through a 120 ticket block across from bona bench that I purchased with local alumns. Bona sold out of their block as well.

Honestly there are very few a games in a season where you stop and say, "There's almost no way we can lose that game" but this is really one of them. Like I said in my blog post, we will have no problem winning this game as long as we come out with energy and take them seriously. If we roll off the bus and just assume we'll win by 20 we'll be in for a tight one. But, if we come out from the tip ready to go 100% we should kick them up and down the floor. That's just a fact. www.thebonablog.com

I absolutely agree. I know that it's a different team but I always think of that ark st game.... Always seem to one clunker. I would love to see a 30 pt win. I totally expect this to be a big bona crowd from all I have been hearing. We have a lot of alumns in this area

As has been said this is a bad team at 1-11 but they have only 2 blow outs (first game vs ND by 43 & Army by 26).
As B02 points out, they are a very young team & they are improving having just lost to BC by 14. Recent losses have been by 11, 9, & 12 so they have not been an automatic out.
3 frosh play major minutes & frosh Perovic is their best player. At 6’9” from South Kent Prep he is an A10 caliber player. He leads the team in scoring as he hits treys at a 49% rate.
We SHOULD control the boards but I have seen games expecting this only to be disappointed. I’m hoping for domination on the glass & expect it on Saturday.
Coach Dempsey is a good recruiter & has young players from John Carroll, Lower Merion & South Kent Prep. He will move the Bearcats forward but want to see that movement after we win on Saturday.
Looking forward to being at the game & hopefully seeing local “Billy The Kid” Kenville, who is the only Bonnie to win an NBA Championship.
Also look forward to seeing Bingo’s “Mr Basketball”, Ed Rhodes who will once again be involved in running the Mirabito STOP DWI Holiday Classic which always brings in strong teams from the North East over Christmas week. No doubt our staff will be checking out the star players.
Safe travel to all heading to the game. Should be a nice Bona crowd.

They should want to just go out and kick their ass after a quote like that. Binghamton is so bad they should be awed by a high school team.

The disparity between Binghamton and SBU is almost as great as that between NJIT and Michigan...

The disparity between Binghamton and SBU is almost as great as that between NJIT and Michigan... Great point Pinnum. Hey if the 1980 US hockey team could beat the Soviets anything is possible. We always have to be ready to play. But if we come mentally ready to play with energy we should be able to kick their ass get back on the bus and head on home.

So, we should learn a lot about the team from this game. Do they come in and convincingly show who is better (so the Pitt game would have us believe) or do they play down to their opponent (a recurring problem in recent years)?

Anything is possible. KenPom gives us a 89% chance to win. It is HIGHLY unlikely we lose this game. If you want to try to spin it that BU is a "decent" team you can...but they are not. They are awful. 1-11 is 1-11 and stats after a dozen games don't lie. This is a game we should win going away. www.thebonablog.com

I think all wgt and I are trying to say is that there is talent on this team that would be happy to have on Bonas. They have good big men, but they play like guards they prefer to be on the 3 pt line. They would drive Schmidt crazy though because they are incredibly soft on defense.
They are just a terrible team right now as you have stated njbonnie08 and you are absolutely right. They are a lost team ever since Reed and Dempsey had their bitter divorce.
