marylandbonnie1: What evidence do you have (or past practice) for this wild conspiracy theory?
Cerhav makes sense, and I believe that Coach laid out the future, and Jordan made a tough choice based on that information. Nobody with any basketball sense thought M Davenport would contribute much after his shoulder injury. He was a poor to ave shooter before the surgery, and unless it was a "Rookie of the Year" movie miracle his shooting was not going to improve after his very involved surgery. He was not "kicked" aside.

This smells really bad!! This sounds like this may have come higher up than the Athletic Dept.! I can hear the conversation, 'Hey Jordan graduated and can't play this year. Our committment to him is complete, go tell Schmidt we can save $20K this semester, cut him loose!' No way Schmidt doesn't bring back a captain and senior! I wish this is what happened.

How would the school 'save' 20k? jordan would be sitting in a classroom already filled with a teacher and students...in a dorm room otherwise empty and eating at a buffet cafeteria The assumption is someone in accounting assumes jordan gathers would otherwise be paying the 20k to attend in the spring when in fact as for most athletes...no scholly no attending

Well, I'm hoping that is as over the top as it sounds, but based on the quotes that have been attributed to Jordan, I don't think this was a planned thing. So, it likely comes from either a program, medical or academic cause (or a combination). I imagine the University is unable to say anything, and if Jordan has to process things first, his story may take some time to come out (and may never officially). I always am of the opinion that if you don't say something, people will fill in the blanks, so unless the story is a bad as what others will construct, you may as well get out in front of it.

I know this may sound crazy in this day and age, but could it just simply be that Jordan realized it was time to move on? I mean, graduation from college is supposed to be a life-changing event, right? Maybe he really was a STUDENT (first)-athelete and having graduated, felt it was time to get on with his life's work and if for whatever reason, Bonas/Olean did not offer exactly what he was looking for next, it was time to move somewhere that did, and hoops alone was not enough to keep him around - maybe he's got a girl back in LA - somebody start singing "California Girls" here please - Also, in looking at the play of the team this year, he has to realize that his return was not critical to the team - he was going to be a complementary player only - important yes, but probably not a starter and with limited PT. All in all, just the right time to move on. Maybe it's no more complicated then that. Hope you're right here ceharv. It may be no more than a HIPPA (no pun intended) disclosure issue and Jordan simply wants to move on.

Let's see??? Hummm - I've graduated from College where will I start my career? In Olean, NY were the only jobs and opportunity is unemployment and welfare or in Southern California were there's a chance in life? Olean.NY or Southern California? Olean.NY or Southern California? www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtDhtadoeUk&feature=related ( just skip the ad ) OK it has to be said - after being here now for 10 years now, this region of the country is just dying a SLOW DEATH. Over six thousands jobs have been lost!!! The elected officials of the Area are making NO attempt whats so ever to bring jobs in to the area... and don't give me that crap " oh look they are building a new Hotel in the Brown field site!!! " WOW Look at any of the kids that Graduate from the high schools or Colleges in area - there going too! Nothing will change - the same dim wits get elected over and over again due to voter apathy ( and now that Communist in Washington wants to let thousands more to stay here for free ) So Jordan applied for a job at Cutco but didn't get it? Now it all makes sense.
