listening to gary, he thought throughout the game that they missed some calls... whether we win or lose i think one thing that is pretty consistent: the quality of officiating in the a-10 needs some upgrading...i don't know if the a-10 doesn't pay their refs as well as other leagues, or if there is a lack of quality officials in the college game today...whatever it is, the a-10 has gotta do something about it...by the way, i don't think we lost the game because of the refs...i think the uri "d" took our 2 biggest threats on "o" (youssou and marcus) out of their rhythm, and that was the ballgame...

Re Refs: I just can't remember the last time I saw a team get whistled for 3 seconds in the closing minute of a game. Between that and the foul on Andell where he stole it from T.J. Buchanan and had a lay-up coming we did not get a break on two calls that led to four points from the line. www.thebonablog.com

Thought their defense was stifling and Poseley 's lack of effort for that loose ball and then committing the foul was huge! Hate to criticize him ...especially for what he has meant to us.

Pantom, Posley has been great but he was out hustled for that loose ball plain and simple. That cost us two points and could have been a four point swing. Either he didn't know how close the defender was, or he just got lazy. Either way, when they watch the film he will see that it looked like he basically was jogging to the ball while Buchanan came sprinting in to dive for it. www.thebonablog.com

I am presuming that Posley didn't go hard after the ball because he thought it was going to be a backcourt violation. I didn't quite see if he was the last to touch it before it went into the backcourt or not. Regardless, go get the ball.

Ndoye playing 30 plus minutes and shooting 1-5 is a problem when we play a team like Rhode Island. I didn't see the game but I would bet he was double teamed down low and unable to get any movement. Kind of figured shutting down Posley was a priority. We have two road wins so far this year and need at least three more. In looking at the schedule I think we can achieve that. This was not a game too many expected us to win. Get back on track on Saturday.

Did not see the game, but not breaking 50 pts. Is pretty poor even against a good defense.

Could it been towards one of the refs and requesting that they watch us for 3 seconds? If so, pretty lame for it to be called then. Other than that, I've kinda been surprised at the lack of calls going against visiting teams in the A-10. I've been quite impressed the last 3 years or so by what seems to be to me an upgrading in officiating...Of course, the fact I have become a referee in the past five years might have something to do with it...

Sorry, sbu79....I debated quoting him but I wanted to bring out that point while vowing that it's the last time I allow myself to be exposed to his drivel...

Coach, Overall I've had very little to complain about with the refs this year. Was it a 3 seconds on Cumberbatch? Honestly I have no idea. But I also don't really care. 99% of refs will not call a 3 second violation on the biggest possession of a game. It's just not in good form IMO. It's taking the game out of the player's hands. I foul call such as a charge or a hand check, sure, those need to be called. I don't think we've been called for a 3 second call all season and then URI gets one with a minute left today in a one possession game? Just seems out of the ordinary. www.thebonablog.com

Both teams actually played excellent defense but, even without their best player, Hurley had those guys upping their level a notch on defense, especially. Other than Dion, who they didn't count on, Hurley had his boys ready to defend as Posely was frustrated, Cumberbatch was stifled, not being able to drive to the hoop, and we didn't get too many open looks for 3s. Shucks, even when Jay gets so excited that Youssou set him up for what he thought was a clean look at a 3 basket at the end, "Whoosh!", their explosive defender comes out and swats the ball out of the air and down the other way for a turnaround in possession! That team plays defense and they played it better than we did today! I think the one sequence where that kid blocks Ndoye's shot and then Dion can't put back in the rebound, that might have been the key to their killer instinct to finish the game off. I know it's a cliche, but they just wanted it more than we did.

If it was three seconds, it was probably just at the three second count and shouldn't have been called. My beef would be that if Hurley did ask them to look for it and they called it just to pacify him, that was really "bush league" on the part of the official even more than Hurley....

DION Wright blows up for a 15-15 game tomorrow Good call, Rookie! Unfortunately, it wasn't in a hero role that Dion came through! Nonetheless, a great game by the junior forward, Dion "The Worm" Wright!
