Because you had to answer him, I was exposed to his crap.
Sorry, sbu79....I debated quoting him but I wanted to bring out that point while vowing that it's the last time I allow myself to be exposed to his drivel...
Probably shouldn't have called you out. I finally blocked that one. A fire goes out if you take away the oxygen.

Hurley is one of the best in the business when it comes to working the 5. As for the officiating crew Paul Faia was the only ref that primarily does A10 games

I was at the game......the refs hardly called any fouls early in the game, and it was rough.....they let the players play. Onc call that was key in the first half.....time winding down, Jay with the ball (score 21-20 URI)....he gets bumped, knocked over, ball goes off of him, URI ball, knock down a 3 as the half ends....24-20. From possibly taking the lead to being down 4.....that was big.
On the 3 second violation....we were moving the ball around, like a hot potato, no one wanted to shoot, and there were a couple of shots that were passed up....then the 3 second call.
The URI crowd was loud especially toward the end of the game. Posley was hotly guarded the whole game, multiple different players had the assignment. He could not find his shot..we need to have some plays designed to get him free or double screens....we are not going to win with him scoring 6 points.
In the first half the middle was totally clogged....and our shots inside were "prayers" with little chance of going in (Cumberbatch, Alston, Dion). The 2nd half the middle was open and Dion took over. In the first half Hassan martin was everywhere, disappeared in the 2nd half.
I thought our defense was very good, but their defense was better, by about 6 points.

The one I saw had one block in the first half and SIX blocks in the second half.

The officiating was not bad but the 3 second call was terrible. If you havent called it all game then you have to let it go in the last 5 minutes. I agree the timing of the call was awful and the foul on Batch was pretty bad. We didnt execute down the stretch and that is why we lost. Posley definitely looked gassed out there and I dont understand why we didnt get him a breather for a few minutes. Coach has to trust the bench a little more than he does. Gregg gets 10 min or so a night but that is about it unless we get into foul trouble, which amazingly we have mostly avoided this year. A week off will be good for the team and hopefully they come out firing against La Salle.
I see the troll is gone, exiting the exact same way as last season. Good riddance

I know a few media members from URI and all of them were stunned at the 3 second call. A total bush league call at that point in the game. www.thebonablog.com

Jay got bumped pretty good and I thought you have got to be freakin kidding me that is not a foul. Sure enough Terrell sinks a 3 before the half and that very possibly could have been a five point swing on us, rather than up 1 down by 4 at the half. The 3 second call I just kind of chuckled, ya Batch was in the lane for 3 seconds, but c'mon man you are really going to call that. Hurley is a master at manipulating the refs. I can still remember the game last year at Bonas. I was wondering when the guy was going to shut up. But anyways I am all done with my rant now. Was wishing the Bonnies could have pulled that one out, but they still played hard and fought with a good URI team.

gdub2009, Agree with your points. Jay was clearly, clearly bumped on that steal attempt, it was not called. Terell's three pointer then followed. Between that as well as the reach in on Cumberbatch (taking away a lay-up, giving them to FTs) and the three second call (followed by two FTs I believe) you're honestly talking an 11 point swing. I thought objectively speaking the refs botched all three of those calls. Without question the Jay Adams bump/3 second call were horrible. Still, I'm not citing the refs as the reason we lost this game but it's fair to say we got no breaks on a number of critical calls. Even URI fans said that to me. www.thebonablog.com

Didn't get the chance to see this one, but the Rhody D must have been impressive. Containing Posley and Ndoye -- that is no small trick to pull off. I can see them doubling (or more) on one of them, but to take out a big man AND a perimeter guy is almost hard to fathom. Seems like Posley was shooting and missing, but Ndoye only took 5 shots?
Nice that Dion was able to take advantage, but seems like he needed some help. 48 points, well, that adds up to an L almost every time.

With Matthews out, this was a missed opportunity for the Bonnies. But looking at the current A-10 standings, I'm pleased with the team's 6th-place position. I see VCU, Dayton, and GW as the league's runaway elite. Davidson and URI (with Matthews) are next best. I think the Bonnies fall into a three-team middle including UMass and Richmond - round two vs. the Spiders won't be a blowout. After the Bonnies group there's the rest of the field (insert rebuilding cliché here). And last comes Fordham (not rebuilding).
Overall, a 6-8th place finish is a positive finish, and the Bonnies are currently on that track.
Incidentally, URI should be off-the-charts good for the foreseeable future. Just picked up a commitment from Kuran Iverson, 4-star forward transferring from Memphis.

Got to go to game and enjoyed meeting some fellow Tard Kings . Really what stood out was the physicality of RI. They all seemed like football players to our basketball players. Jay Adams was hurrassed with constant pressure and bumping all game. Refs really ate the whistle first half. Agree biggest play of game was just before half with Adams clearly pushed and no call ..ball out of bounds leading to half ending 3 for Rams. That play got me out of my seat yelling they call that pass interference in football. Really was hoping to hear Pose was ill because he did not look himself this game. Sat next to Coach Schmidt's college teammate and wife. He was not impressed by NDoye who was off this game. Impressed with Dion and Adams. A shout out to my new Bona buddy Eddie from Boston a fellow Tard King, hope to see you at future Bona games and try posting sometimes and not just reading the board.

I've always wondered who the Einsteins are who assign star ratings to high school recruits. Alleged 6'9" 4 star recruit Kuran Iverson averaged 2.5 pts and 1.6 reb last year. This year he was averaging 4.6 pts and 1.9 reb before Memphis threw him out of the program. If Memphis is eliminating you from their program you must have done some really bad stuff. Good luck to URI recruiting guys like that.

Good luck to URI recruiting guys like that. I was mainly referencing freshman Jared Terrell and sophomores Hassan Martin and EC Matthews. Martin just dominated the Bonnies. As far as the "Einsteins," they are probably journalists following the high school basketball recruiting scene closer than I am, so I like to read what they have to say. Do they get some wrong? Sure. But they watch more basketball than I do. I don't know why Iverson left Memphis. But it's probably unfair to say he "must have done some really bad stuff."

I was bullish on URI until I watched them play a few games this year. They have some talent no doubt about that. If a recruit is in the Top 100 then I will take notice. These guys are usually pretty darn good. Once you get past that though, you need to get guys that fit the strengths of your program. Jaylen Adams was no where to be found on recruiting sites, but he looks pretty darn good so far. VCU brought in Larrier and URI brought Terrell, both top 100 guys and they both look pretty good to me.
