I'm not 100% sure on this (I'll say that upfront) but I have been told by three different people that Adams is having surgery tomorrow on his broken finger and that he could miss the rest of the season. More details and thoughts in my post on the blog....wow, let's hope I am wrong (thus my sources are all wrong) and he really has just jammed it like the SBU Athletic department says. If that's not the case and he is out for the rest of the season the Bonnies are going to really fight an uphill battle.....Again, I'd love to be wrong here but.... thebonablog.com/2015/02/11/breaking-jay-adams-out-for-season/ www.thebonablog.com

If he is having surgery tomorrow why would he have played today? Judging by the last two mins when he fouled out that would basically end out season for all intents and purposes. This just doesn't seem right though. The injury is bothering him so much but he still played today? I don't see the logic with that. It didn't appear to be bothering him at all these last few games.

I don't know all the details but between being messaged here/twitter and making a phone texts/calls three different people told me they heard he's having surgery tomorrow but he could play tonight. Two of those three told me they've been told he's likely out for the season. I'm not reporting anything as a fact but rather saying that my sources (who claim/have proven to have good sources) have been told he's out. If you want to call it a rumor that's fine but I've got enough confidence in what I've heard to at least bring the "rumor" to the internet whereas in the past I've passed on these time and time again because I couldn't get a second or third person to verify that story...tonight I could. www.thebonablog.com

For the sake of your credibility as a reporter, I hope you're right. The question remains though, if he was able to play tonight with a small bandage on his finger, why would he not be able to play the rest of the season with the same bandage? And if he is having surgery tomorrow, why would Schmidt risk the future of his star PG by playing him tonight in a regular season game? Makes zero sense to me. www.thebonablog.com

This is the most logical way to question the whole thing. He logged 35 minutes tonight and that would have been 37 had he not fouled out. On the other hand (no pun intended), it was reported before tonight's game that Adams would be wearing a brace or bandage, and it was further relayed from the team that he was nursing a nagging injury from as far back as Duquesne. He had no such coverage on his hand during the VCU or Davidson games, so something is suspicious there.

This is very unfortunate. Jay was a phenomenal get for Schmidt and he had a great year. I am hoping his surgery goes well and he has a quick recovery.....but who starts at point?

Listen, as I stated I'm not 100% sure on this and since I'm not writing for the USA Today I don't NEED to say with certainty he's having surgery and he's done. I am saying, "This is what I've been told by multiple people" and I'm thinking where there's smoke there's fire. I've heard enough of this to report that there's a good chance this is true...if it's not true, I can live with that...I honestly hope I'm dead wrong. I'd rather question my sources in 48 hours than watch this team without Jay. www.thebonablog.com

Use common sense here - there's no way Schmidt and co. Are going to allow Jay to play 35 mins knowing that he's scheduled for season ending surgery.
I was at the game. He had a small bandage/splint on his finger and it didn't appear to hamper his game. I fully expect to see #10 in the lineup @ Dayton.
I was more concerned with the whereabouts of Jalen Adams.

Obviously I don't know your sources, but Bonas is a small campus, so word gets out. Yes, where there is smoke there is fire, and we know from past experience the alarm at the fire station may be ringing, but no official word will be issued until it can no longer be concealed. In the meantime, the height and color of the flames will be discussed ad nauseam. It's like sitting in the terminal, and you know your flight is going to be delayed, but the sign says "on time" until the last possible moment.
We know he had a splint last night that he had not had previously. We also know he fouled out with some calls that made me wonder "why did he do that?"
Speculation: a jammed finger that may not have been coming around could be diagnosed as needing surgery. Experts could believe that little additional damage would be done in any single game, but the odds would get worse game after game. Who knows though. I doubt there will be a confirmation if this is true before Saturday at about 10 minutes before tipoff.
Reading between the lines of tweets, I wonder if Iakeem was also sick last night. I can't see the logic of not having him in after Jay foulded out. Isn't he our #2 PG? I also see that he tweeted today that his time will come. Could mean a lot of things.

79, Agree on your post. From what I'm thinking and told it may be a situation where playing one game doesn't hurt him (think a sprained ankle) but they could have said you need to get this fixed right after. I'm not sure. I am sure, like you are, that we won't know until right before the Dayton tip if he's out or not. If he's playing the story/my post was total BS. We'll see in a few days I guess. www.thebonablog.com

As mentioned in another thread, Iakeem has not been a good free throw shooter. He's 11-23 on the season. Now, this might or might not be why Schmidt had him on the bench in the final minute. Of course, in hindsight, it's better to have a poor free throw shooter at the line than to turn the ball over before the clock starts.

Are there any doctors on this site? The rest of us have no clue what is going on...
except njbonnie08, since he has communicated with actual people.
My medical theory would be moronic,,,,
