Does anyone think Schmidt might now consider doing the unthinkable? Playing Jalen Adams. Bench options are running low. Idris Taqqee isn't doing the trick. Taqqee comes in and plays good defense, is not afraid of taking a shot, can make the nice pass, and makes few mistakes.......

You can put up whatever numbers you want. There is no way in hell Alston compares to Jay. We lose our leader and our player with the highest basketball IQ. We are in trouble! I don't think anyone outside Iakeem's immediate family would dispute that. The numbers indicate that we lose several points in margin when Jay is not leading the team. However, it is interesting to speculate how Alston's relative strengths may affect the Bonnies' style of play. One additional note: Iakeem's lone three-pointer of the season came against Dayton. Remember it? It was the Hail Mary thrown up at the end of the game to keep the losing margin down below 20.

This is why you have a bench. He will see the most playing time of his year and needs to step it up for the rest of the season. He will perform. Other teams have lost key components and are making adjustments. I expect we will see more of Denzel and Idris so other guy's will get in the mix. Jalen Adams will also slide down the bench a notch for all the fans that want to see more of him. Let's see how things look after Dayton before everyone throws in the towel on the season.

Especially when that #2 PG was the PG the head guy targetted to run this team this year and personally flew out to wyoming to obtain. The other PG who fouled out was not recruited by our guy and was signed with jacksonville and only became available late in the process... Do they recruit as a staff or on their own? While the Bonnies may be inconsistent your hatred for Schmidt is very consistent. Slow down - I simply stated the truth - you call it hatred I dont

In fairness to Iakeem Alston - it is difficult for any player to display their talents when playing less than 4 minutes in a game. Lets see what he brings with a 30 minute game. He did play very well in the UB game,,,

Sad news. If any player in our rotation got hurt, it would require the team to adjust. With Jay being the point guard, the floor general, it hurts a little more. I believe that our coaching staff is up to the challenge of making adjustments, just look at the magic they have done during halftime of some of our games. My concern is that they have not had enough time to practice a new approach to the game. Surgery sucks. I wish Jay well and a quick and easy recovery.

Where in the article does it say that he broke his finger during the UMASS game?

Where in the article does it say that he broke his finger during the UMASS game? The article has been updated from its original. Where it now says that it has been bothering him for a while, it previously said that it was injured in the UMass game.

What difference does it make when a guy becomes available in the process jh? As long as we are able to sign him I don't care. Your backhanded compliments to the job this staff has done over the years is pretty obvious. Bona 87 nailed it.

Look forward to seeing Iakeem play. Jay has been fantastic but I've liked the few minutes that Iakeem has given so far and feel comfortable with him at the point. Eecially like his defense and speed. We'll be fine.

I want to recognize Bonnies MBB for releasing the news about Jay over 2 hours before tipoff. I must say I didn't see that coming.
Also, props for clearing up that he is not definitely out for the rest of the season as so many had speculated in the absence of any official announcement when the surgery was performed.

Jay is the most valuable freshman we've had since Andrew and I can't think of who before that, so unless there is absolutely zero chance of the injury becoming more serious/permanent, no way you risk that by playing him more now.
Let's give Alston a chance here. What he's done to this point this year is really totally irrelevant. His year has just reset and he gets a do-over. The mental process in being the starter the team depends on from being a back-up who knows he is one mistake from being yanked is huge.it is unimportant how he compares with Jay, because if he's the point, it's all about how the other guys work with him. His career starts now, not back in November.

NJbonnie08,
You got some love from the OTH!
"The news was brought into the national conscience on Friday morning by CBSsports.com. The Bona Blog, a fan-run site, originally reported Wednesday before the Bonnies’ 55-53 home loss to Massachusetts that Adams might be facing season-ending surgery."

Yes hoping to hear some good news about jay's return. Ideal situation would to blow out Fordham and let him get 10 minutes to work off rust and then come into Brooklyn ready to roll. Today starts our 3 game win streak to finish the season. 3 game win streak, healthy adams, best fans at the Barclays. Lets do this!
