good luck to our women's softball team as they begin their season today with an early afternoon game vs ole miss and another tonight vs coastal carolina...what i really wish for them (besides a successful season) is for someone with deep pockets to come thru with a donation that would get the new softball turf off the planning stage and become a reality...it would be great for recruiting, and coach threehouse has logged quite a few years as coach and deserves the opportunity to coach a team at a facility fitting for an a-10 team...

good luck to our baseball team as they are starting their season vs maine today...game is on audio courtesy of maine...their announcer knows we don't have a practice facility...don't know how he knows that...said we have to workout on a wood floor...don't have a domed facility like they do...no score...bottom of the 3rd...

We have played Maine many of times. I was baseball manager in 2007 and we did beat them that year and they are usually a very solid team. I believe Maine made the College World Series a few times back in the 80s. I am assuming the announcer has a familiarity to us because we seem to play them a lot in Florida and I am sure Larry told them about our practicing in Butler Gym and the RC.

Bonnies head into the 9th up 2-1. Florida trips have been rough for the baseball team the past few years, itd be nice to get a quality win to kick the season off

Always have a place in my heart for the start of baseball season - so, for those who are not familiar with former MLB Commmissioner Bart Giamatti's famous baseball poem, here it is:
“[Baseball] breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall all alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.”
― A. Bartlett Giamatti, Take Time For Paradise: Americans And Their Games

congrats to our softball team on its first victory of the season, a 7-6 comeback win over charlotte...any win for either the baseball or softball team this early in the season is a big plus...hopoefully both teams can add a few more wins down south/in hawaii in the next couple of weeks in order to have some momentum heading into a-10 play...
