Not sure why X. Smith could not see time. Early in season thought he showed some promise only never to see the court. Not to pick on a player but what does Gregg do that Smith can't?

Gregg is just far more athletic. Smith would be better suited for post play defense but Gregg blocks quite a few shots and rebounds well for us. I cant advocate playing Smith over Gregg at this point. Gregg has been coming on.

Can he play more than 20 minutes before we start comparing him to some very good recent players ? Maybe Taqqee could add something to the team. Doesn't this help prove that Schmidt has not used his bench well. Taqqee was not playing at all, and in this game he proved that he could bring something to the mix. What about Tyson and Adams? Could Taqqee's success inspire Schmidt to see what others could add to the team? Why can't we fight through a pick to defend the 3? With respect to Taqqee, Coach S has given him a good share of minutes at various times during the year. He always proved that he was up to the task, except his shooting was poor. It is obvious that Taqqee is out to prove what I have been saying ( * kidding ) that it is possible for a player to improve his shooting with hard work and coaching. My music ended with Elvis, and while others may be jiving to pre-game rap songs, I watch the players shoot. His form is improving tremendously. And almost every shot he took against the Dukes had a chance. Earlier in the year his attempts were prayers not answered. He looked better at the line, too, but his percentage was poor. Tyson has been redshirted, so playing him is out of the question. Your point??? Fans all have an opinion on Jalen Adams. I see a good athlete, with a poor outside shot (no rotation), who did not look good on "D" in his limited appearances early in the season. Does he deserve more time? Perhaps, but Taqqee would be my choice, too.

Gregg vs Smith ? Apples to oranges. I agree with kcSBU03, that Smith is a post type player (PF ?) and Gregg is more of a SF and a slasher. I am not picking one over the other, but they are not the same type player.

He looked like an upgraded Cumberbatch Let's give AC his due. Kid is playing with confidence at both ends of the floor, and producing.

FJS - 8 years of paying attention to the nuns - and I did! - and I do not recall hearing even once "u after q, except in Taqqee" - maybe that's taught in Georgia or the south, but not in Bristol, Bucks County, PA.

Taqqee's shot did look a lot better on Saturday. Every shot looked good from my vantage point and then rimmed out. I think he just needs to put his hand in the cookie jar a little more to get some more spin on it. He was recruited to be a glue guy and he definitely shows that. If he can get those shots to fall he can be a smart, solid all-around player.

My elementary nun-teachers were Sisters of Saint Joseph in upstate NY. God bless those ladies for teaching me--among countless other lessons of grammar and sentence diagramming--that u almost always follows when we use q (except for Taqqee-like exceptions). I try not to nitpick the frequent grammar and spelling errors I see here on the Bandwagon, but I'm pretty sure that by the time the nuns promoted us to high school freshmen they had also drilled us to the point that we recognized that freshman is singular and freshmen is plural. As to the subject of this thread, I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion of the coaching decision to shift the starting line-up. Putting Marcus at point and moving 'Batch to the 2 created a starting slot for Denzel. That opened up a lot more playing time for Idris. Coach Ferry commented on the change in the Buffalo News, citing this as a big factor in the improved Bona showing. In addition to the other benefits, it was a touch of genius to get Posley's mind off his shooting slump while busy distributing the offense.

Gregg 6'7 4: Wright 6'7 5: Ndoye 7'0 It worked wonderfully to start the game but really we didn't get to see that exact lineup together too much because of foul trouble

Not starting Iakeem Alston against a team that only plays zone was a no brainer. I like Schmidt, but that was hardly a Dean Smith moment. Touch of genius? If Alston would have started, then I would have been surprised.
Interesting, that Coach Schmidt is being lauded for this move (Posely at point) and certain posters wanted to hang Coach S for his move at the end of the UMASS game. And just is the the sky is blue, if the Dukes would have won this Saturday's game then the Schmidt lineup change would have been the reason we lost.

What you are referring to is armchair coaching, something NO bona fan would EVER do!!!!!!!!! Besides, we have a forum full of armchair university administrators here, theres only so much after-the-fact knowledge that can go round from the comfort of our couches!!

So here's your chance to have your personal Dean Smith moment and predict the Bona starters Wednesday vs. St. Louis. Edit: Sorry I meant this for oldcoach, not tasty, but anyone's prediction would be interesting.
