Who is a better recruit (Woods or Griffin)? What do people think about J. Tyson? Higher recruit LaDarien Griffin is the higher rated recruit being a 3 star recruit from Scout and being recruited by the likes of Texas Tech and Florida State. In comparison Derrick Woods is not listed by Scout or Rivals (not surprising since last year was his first year on the varsity) and he was being recruited by likes of Niagara, Binghamton and FDU. Athleticism/build/game --LaDarien is a lanky 6'7" 200 pound small forward who has been a key contributor on a team that won Florida's 3A Championship. His high school team's frontline was 6'9", 6'7" and 6'7". This year his team was 33-1 and this was with graduation of Duke freshman Grayson Allen. LaDarien averaged 12 points a game for both seasons. LaDarien is a high flying athlete with a 7 foot wingspan, who needs to work on his shot. --Derrick is an athletic 6'8" 220 pound power forward.Does not have quite the extreme athleticism of LaDarien, but he certainly can sky and has impressive dunks. He led his team to the semifinals of Pennsylvania's 4A Tournament. First game of the tournament he had 22 points and 22 rebounds. He average 10 points last year and upped it to 16.3 ppg this year. He is regarded as a good defensive player, who excels at blocks. He has an improving offensive post game and like LaDarien he needs to work on his shot. Player with the higher upside Back in November I thought it was clearly LaDarien, especially when you consider the above. Now I'm not sure who to pick. LaDarien had a steady career on one of the best teams in the nation. On the other hand Derrick played on the varsity for only 2 years and averaged just 10 points a game as a junior. This year he leads his team to the state's semifinals, raises his scoring to 16.3 ppg and was selected to 2nd team All State for class 4A (largest class in Pennsylvania). Impressive accomplishment for a player who averaged just 10 points a game the previous year. Jordon Tyson It is too early to give up on Jordon. Like everyone else I was surprised and disappointed with Jordon's game. His disappointing season does not change the fact he averaged 12.4 ppg for the number 2 prep team in the nation. He is still the player that was stated by his coach to being better than his prized 6'10" center (Jabari Craig) who signed with USC by saying following "Fishburne head coach Ed Huckaby Jr. there is no comparison as to who is the better player. He is polished offensively,” Huckaby said of Tyson. “He goes left hand, right hand, he’s got it. You add 30 pounds to that and it’s on. He’s better than Jabari Craig. I’m watching it everyday.” scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=9&c=11&cfg=bb&sFirstName=&sLastName=griffin&yr=2015gobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/m-baskbl/2014-15/releases/20141120bwuq6twww.oleantimesherald.com/sports/article_d76cad4c-700c-11e4-929b-67bcb240d5fa.htmlwww.oleantimesherald.com/sports/article_f555b75a-d299-11e4-b215-774bb78d3d0b.htmlwww.mcall.com/sports/groller-blog/mc-no-lehigh-valley-kids-on-allstate-boys-basketball-teams-but-district-11-not-totally-shut-out-20150402-story.html#page=1intrepidsbu.com/2013/10/18/exclusive-bonnies-recruit-jordan-tyson-resembles-andrew-nicholson/gobonnies.sbu.edu/sports/m-baskbl/2014-15/bios/tyson_jordan_11oxThanks for the information. Hopefully we can recruit a good shooter.

I see LaDarien as the better of the two initially. If Woods continues to make steady strides he potentially may have higher upside. When Tom Konchalski commented on how much he has developed in a short time you must take notice. In November it seemed obvious that LaDarien was the better player, but Derrick's incredible progress makes this a tough call. I'm thankful Bonnies signed Derrick before the start of his senior season. As for upside I think it depends on who else the Bonnies sign. If they fail to sign another quality big man I can see Derrick playing more than LaDarien during their freshman year. Both players appear to be quality signings.

How many more spots do they have? two or four? Bonnies can sign 5 more scholarship players. Can have 13 scholarship players - 6 returning players - 2 signed in November = 5 to be filled.

Geez.... that is a good, but bad problem... only time will tell.. need a deeper team with better shooters. Something needed even more than shooters is a healthy Jay Adams. Marcus Posley shot just 23.8% from 3s after Jay was lost for the season. I think the number 1 need is another center. A JUCO scorer at small forward would be my number 2 need. It would be great if he was a shooter, but I would not turn down another player like Jonathan Hall who did not have much of a jump shot (shot just 26% from 3s at Bonas). Another player to remember for 3 point shooting is Dion Wright. Dion had the 2nd best 3 point shooting accuracy at 35.7%. Of course it was inflated by him making 4 of 5, 3 pointers in the last game against Dayton. statsheet.com/mcb/players/player/st-bonaventure/marcus-posley/game_statsstatsheet.com/mcb/players/player/st-bonaventure/jonathan-hallstatsheet.com/mcb/teams/st-bonaventure/players

I was at the Dayton game, and Wright was incredible from the corner with those three's.. I hope he can carry that into next year like you said. With him, Posley and Adams (who i think will have the green light more) Bonas will have a good chance to let Tyson and Gregg develop chemistry down low.. I posted, back in March, that this team (2015-2016) reminds me of the Rhode Island team of '97 with Tyson Wheeler, Mobley, and Reynolds-Dean..

Mobley played in the NBA for 10 years/ was very good.... That team made it to the Elite 8, but should have honestly made it to the Final Four... They blew that game... URI wen to the tournament three years in a row during that time.... Tyson Wheeler didn't make it in the NBA, but we all remember how good he really was.... Lets just hope we have a team that an get to the NIT in the next few years/maybe the NCAA Hopefully we fill those next five spots with quality a10 players, and improve on our out of conference schedule.

They weren't predicted to do any of that.. The mere fact that they beat Kansas in the Second Round was a shock.. I grew up on that team. Wheeler ran that team as the floor general, getting everyone involved. Mobley was kind of like his side kick, but a terrific scorer, much like Posely. But Reynolds-Dean was the glue that held that team together. He scrapped and fought down low, just like Dion Wright, and did all the dirty work.. Plus, RI had a tall lanky Soph Center in Luther Clay, much like Tyson.. Rhody went into the postseason with like 9 (don't quote me on that) losses, and as a #8 seed.. They weren't a powerhouse, but were capable of beating anyone on any night.. Now i know you don't like to give the A10 much credit these days, but last yr was down yr with 3 bids, but i can see possibly 4 to 5 teams making it this yr. Bona's being one of them
