Coach leaves, it's OK. Player wants to leave - not OK?

I don't have much of an issue blocking slippery Bobby from trying to take him to ASU, but you cannot block him from going closer to home. I noticed they've now granted him a full release, so moot point I guess.

By blocking or not blocking is this entirely about the one year you have to sit out? None of this is made clear in the reporting I've seen.
I thought anybody could transfer anywhere, and then they sit out a year.

I thought anybody could transfer anywhere, and then they sit out a year. The school has to officially release a player for him to be eligible to transfer - and they still have to sit out a year. This goes back to the case where a player from St. Joe's transferred to UAB (I believe) and St. Joe's (i.e., Phil Martelli) would not grant him a release and the player was never eligible to play at UAB. In many cases like this, the school will release the player with certain guidelines - for UB, that could be not be able to follow Hurley, not being able to transfer to another WNY school, or not being able to transfer within the MAC.

Gets a bad rap from me due to family connections but I digress. In similar fashion, I thought it was shady that Mihalich took a couple guys with him when he went to Hofstra.

I just read that he is following Hurley to ASU. Channel 2 news (Buffalo NBC station) reported someone close to the situation said Miami is the early favorite.

Agree. Kids connection to the recruiting coach & process is crucial.
Chuck, check your PMs.

Wow - I never knew that. I always thought a player could transfer anywhere, but have to sit out one year. Thanks.
