JP's article "Bonnnies recruits long on guards, short up front" takes an overview of this recruiting class. In regards to signing Nelson Kaputo, JP makes an interesting comment about Schmidt with "proved he could land one of his more highly regarded prospects on his radar, which has been rare throughout his tenure at Bona." JP talks about Schmidt not signing a big man to replace Youssou. JP says there is still time and lists 5 players (Sam de Haas, Brett Roseboro, Matthew Wright, Charlon Kloof and Dion Wright) that have been signed after June 1st. I remember when Schmidt would say he would like to keep a scholarship "in his back pocket" because he never knew who might become available. Actually I can think of 2 more players that Schmidt signed after June 1st with Greese Thomas and Horace McGloster and I'm sure there are others. Whether it is Jordan Tyson, Derrick Woods or a late signing, a quality center is the missing piece to what appears to be a talented Bonnie team for this upcoming season. www.oleantimesherald.com/sports/article_6fd27a84-0109-11e5-ad64-f7aeb371cbfc.html

Just being picky.

Matt Mobley receiving just one D-1 offer is almost shocking. -- In high school Matt averaged 23.2 ppg and did not receive any D-1 offers so he went to Worcester Academy. -- At Worcester Academy he was named to NERR's 2nd team for Class 2A. It becomes very impressive when you see who else is on his Worcester team (6 signed with D-1 schools) and to think NERR thinks Matt was Worcester 2nd best player. Rene Castro (signed with Butler) was the star and he was named to the 1st team. Matt Mobley as mentioned above was named to the 2nd team. Connecticut's Jalen Adams is on the 2nd team with Mobley. Later as a senior, Adams becomes one of the top recruits in the nation. Darryl Reynolds (signed with Villanova) was named to the 3rd team. Matt Cimino signed with George Washington. Thomas Rivard signed with James Madison. Matt Panaggio signed with Lipscomb. www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/nepsac-all-conference-honorsHere is a profile of Matt from NERR. Matt is an exceptional athlete with wiry strength and long arms. He has a nose for the ball, can rebound at a high rate for a guard, and has very deep range on his three-point jumpshot. He spent his high school career playing at St. Peter-Marian, and will take his legitimate division 1 talent to Worcester Academy next year to play for Jamie Sullivan. www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/bv-chaos-flight-school-event-recapMatt being an exceptional athlete is displayed here. Notes: Plays of the day came from Roger Moute-Bidias and Matt Mobley….Roger caught an alley way up top in transition from Jamel Artis before throwing down a crazy one-hand slam which electrified the crowd…He looked to have the highlight of the day locked up until Matt Mobley threw down a vicious one-hander in traffic plus the arm in the last game of the day. www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/babc-prep-classic-day-1-recapEven with all this talent at Worcester, Matt showed he could still score a lot. Matt Mobley was the star for the victors, dropping a game high 27 points while showing much improved shooting range from behind the three-point line and being all over the offensive glass. Rene Castro, Matt Cimino, and Tom Rivard had 10 points each. www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/npsi-friday-recap Wow to think in 2 years, Schmidt has a big decision. Who is he going to start next to Jaylen Adams? Matt Mobley or arguably the best point guard in Canada.

Whose to say that three guards can't be on the floor together. Seem to recall last year that Dayton was very short on height but big in wins and desire.
