I've heard some rumors about pending upgrades at the RC (we're talking near future). Just wanted to get a gauge on if anyone else has heard anything before I start spewing information out there.

Spew as much as you can, the key desire that I have is for a video scoreboard....most other schools have it and it would be a great addition. Of course I would like a total upgrade so our streaming would be 21st century capable.

Imagine a large donation to pay for the video boards... Might that enhance the fan experience, in turn leading to increased attendance, additional in-game ad sponsorship, etc etc that would add to the bottom line. I would have to assume that the better the fan experience then the better the overall impression of the University to the general public. Maybe just maybe some bright eyed youngster attends a game and says this is where I want to go to school.

The new AD has spoken openly about this being a priority. I don't have time to dig through his quotes, but I recall the video boards being a topic and his desire to get them in place soon because they have an impact on recruiting. He said something along the lines of "players like to see their replays on the board during games"...

I have heard that a video board could be in place possibly as soon as this upcoming season That's the main rumor I've heard as well. The rumor is that an area business is sponsoring two video boards which will be placed on each baseline wall. The center court scoreboard would remain. Alleviating any concerns about making upgrades before student enrollment turns around, if the university isn't spending its own money, then why exactly should there be a concern?

I don't want to complain because it is progress to get video boards I guess and I don't like when people complain about progress, but I will say one of the things I personally like about the RC is the lack of cheesy video boards. I like the experience & focus on the game myself but I understand others & possible recruits would like to see one so I will concede. Also if a business is sponsoring it than that is truly great for more reasons than just getting a new video board.
I just hope they do it right and don't make it cheesy & forced. An example of what I am referring to is LaSalle University. Historic gym with an old school feel, horrible cheesy video board stuffed in the corner complete with lame graphics and distracting video pieces. It is forced and doesn't belong in that vibe.
I know they will do better than that at the RC, no question in my mind, I just wanted to point out a "worst-case scenario."

I certainly agree with you there.

I hope it isn't too large...
A friend of mine got a big plasma TV for his condo and it hurt your eyes because it was too big and you couldn't take in everything. Anyone who has ever sat too close to the TV knows the feeling.
The RC end walls are very near and could easily make a large screen too close for the majority of fans.

They should take the money they would have spent on video boards and invest it into the hot dogs.
