Eligible immediately?

The initial twitter said "sit one, play one"....we also know that sometimes when there is a coaching change, if the the kid transfers he is eligible immediately (this was not true for Andoh after his freshman year at San Jose when their also was a coaching change). Now the confusion gets greater (at least in my mind). If Andoh was to sit a year, then we need a graduate transfer center (like Kambola) to give us that presence in the middle. But if Andoh is eligible immediately it makes sense to get a 4 year big (like Josh Lewis) and possibly redshirt him. I could see Andoh and Dion playing together, and although no big man presence they can both provide somewhat of a presence. I guess time will tell, and that time should be this week.

I was under the impression he was good to play this year. After looking up NCAA rules and reading JP's article that does not appear to be the case, at least not on the surface. Looks like he sits out this year. Schmidt then would still really want a F for 2015-2016. Q: If my coach leaves, can I transfer and immediately be eligible? No. Contrary to popular belief, the departure of a coaching staff member does not grant a student-athlete relief from the residence requirement on transferring. www.thebonablog.com

He played in 14-15 so he would have to sit. The only way a coaching change comes into play is if a kid signs, the coaching change occurs before he suits up and the school grants him a release. The NCAA has clamped down on "hardship" waivers that were used so often two or three years ago, so that route to immediate eligibility appears gone as well. To me, the only way Andoh plays this year is if he were to somehow earn his undergrad degree before he enrolled at Bona's.

'Sorry about the duplication on this...I wasn't aware we had another thread going on Andoh...It would seem his addition for 2016-17 would be very welcome as I like the way he attacks the basket and plays defense...nice mid and short range jumper!

Thank you David Andoh for choosing the Bonnies
Thank you Coaching Staff for adding David to the team.
I hope with the addition of Andoh, the Red shirt Freshman Tyson will improve his game.

JP has a new article titled "Schmidt excited to bring Andoh on board." Schmidt states "though he’s a capable back-to-the-basket player, Andoh comes in as more of a big body with range. He can do both,” the Bona boss noted. “He’s better facing the basket. He’s good at catching and shooting and taking guys off the bounce; he has really good ball skills. But he can do some offensive rebounding." www.oleantimesherald.com/sports/article_c7f55f22-2019-11e5-8249-e3c9e455b7e5.htmlIf you check out the video below, you see exactly what Schmidt is talking about. First time I saw the video I thought Andoh looked a lot more like a small forward than a big forward, which especially surprising since he is 6'7" 220 pounds. In the article Schmidt states he would like to see Andoh bulk up to 230 pounds and extend his jump shot from 18 feet to 21 feet feet. If all this happens, Andoh would be a type of power forward we've never seen before in a Bonnie uniform. www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3Fh8YiZZnA&app=desktop
