The news is pretty dead today. I understand several of the Bonnies will be on campus starting today, however. Maybe one of you Bandwagon folks in the Olean area can give a report on what's up on campus.

Thanks to Bonnies Fan on twitter I've got the kind of info I was hoping for: BONNIES FAN bonnies_FAN · 2h2 hours ago Gregg made 4 of 5 from 3. Players there: Wright, Posley, Mobley, Gregg, Stockard, Taqqee, Kaputo, and Griffin. Alumni: Simmons and Davenport BONNIES FAN bonnies_FAN · 2h2 hours ago Two players stood out last night in open run: Tyson and Gregg. Jordan hit a number of shots with his back to the basket using both hands. That is really encouraging news on Denzel and Jordan.

Hope Woods and Lewis are additional sightings tonight. Great news about Gregg and Jordan. Heard staff has been very positive on Denzel improvement.

A few guests at the scrimmage included Michael Davenport, Marquise and Bucknell's Nate Sestina. Following is a couple players that looked good.
-- Matt Mobley was the player that really stood out for me. As expected Matt had a great looking shot, but I was stunned to see his athleticism. He had a dunk where he soared over a couple other players and to think he is only 6'2". -- Kaputo was by far the quickest player on the court. Along with Matt, the Bonnies have a promising looking backcourt for the future. -- Courtney had a better jumper than I anticipated. -- LaDarien was impressive with his scoring around the basket. He even made a few jumpers. -- As mentioned Denzel's shot looked great and Jordan had several baskets with solid looking post moves. It is way too early to over look Jordan as playing an important role for the Bonnies this season.

Thanks for the updates. I second the request for info on play times. I will be in town at the end of July. Will summer school still be in session then? Would love to get an early look. Getting excited about prospects for a memorable season in 2015-16.

I made the road trip to Bonaventure yesterday (Monday). It was the first day of the 2nd summer session and the 1st day of Mark's overnight summer camp (1st of 2)......well over 100 kids. Anyway, this convergence of events brings most of the basketball players to school: graduates, current team members and the new guys.
Graduates: Davenport, Simmons & Cumberbatch were there. Ogo will be in town next week. Current: Taqqee, Posley, Gregg, Wright, Tyson New guys: Griffen, Stockard, Mobley, Kaputo
Arrived at 1PM and immediately went to the Burton (my priorities are in order). The Burgers are still the best although a little bit more than the 35 cents I paid when I first came to Bona's. Met Jamie Moses grandfather at the Burton.
Went to campus around 2pm....watched the campers and was looking for sightings of the players. Talked with coach Crowley and discussed the last season but quickly went on to better news, this coming season. I saw optimism.....the women's team is also on campus for summer session II. (Talked with a few of the players, and this morning saw Miranda Drummond at the Hickey, doing Bio homework, last night she was shooting hoops at the RC.)
Then saw Steve Mest, chatted a bit. Asked about Andoh, and a couple of minutes later, got a text from SBU Athletics announcing his signing.
Also bumped into Tim Kenney. We have a good one, his optimism and drive to succeed was apparent. I am sure we will be seeing the fruits of his labor this coming year.
Dinner at the Beef and Barrell. Was going to Angees, but the construction on the street is really difficult to menuever around. I usually like to get off I86 at Exit 26 and drive through town....for memory sske. Don't do it, take 25 or 24. Actually after dinner did drive past the Armory....still there and looks good from the outside.
Will continue in the next post.

Got to the RC a bit before 9, the players were loosening up, getting ready to scrimmage, more like running up and down the court. There were a few of us, sitting and standing, waiting for the action. Biggest problem we had was trying to figure out who was who (no uniform number or names). Not only the new kids, but Davenport looked different (longer hair).....thanks to JP Butler for giving us who was who. Anyway, these are my thoughts......I tend to be an optimist, but I am thrilled at what I saw. Had to keep in mind that these kids were up early for workouts, class, homework....not only the men, but the whole women's team is here....great start for the new kids on their first day.
Kaputo....this kid is going to be a vital part of the rotation. He is quick and fast, can pass and can shoot. Probably needs time in the weight room, but coach Fiske will make him ready for the riggors of A10 basketball.
Griffen....bigger than I expected, broad upper body. Shot well, had a couple of terrific slams. Will provide minutes.
Stockard.....you can see why the coaching staff was excited when they signed him. Can shoot, can slash, has good hops. Will play a lot, I would project him at the 3, but could play the 2....good rebounder. A Michael Lee type build, but shorter.
Mobley....wow, this kid can jump, can shoot, can do everything. Will redshirt due to NCAA rules, and this year he will learn the system and be able to step in at the 2 next year.
Tyson.....not the same kid that I saw get 5 fouls in 5 minutes. Watched him against Simmons and looked poised, and ready. He was my biggest surprise, will get plenty of minutes at the 5.
Gregg.....if not this year, I will be surprised. He is ready to take on a bigger load. We know he can jump, we know that he is a highlight reel in the making. He will play major minutes, I just don't know where yet. He and Tyson were the most improved in my eyes.
Wright.....looks bigger/taller/stronger. Played very well, shot the 18 footer, and as usual is tremendous under the boards. He is our best player, and will lead us this year. I have tried to compare him to Bona players over my Bona history, and I feel like saying this is blasphemy, but he reminds me of my favorite Bonnie ever, Tom Stith.
Posley.....not much to say.....he will be our leading scorer, With a lower number of minutes, and not have to worry about playing the point, he will have a great year.
Taqqee.....lost weight, or redistributed his weight into a leaner stronger body. His defense was outstanding, and quick first step to the hoop....did not see much of his outside shot.
Jay Adams was not there, Derrick Wood will be there for the fall and David Andoh just signed and will be there in the fall.
Next part I will talk about Tuesday morning in the RC.

The question about Jay Adams was not asked......heard he was there for 1st summer session.....nothing to worry about.
Tuesday morning went back to the RC. The campers were going through warmups....led by Darryn Fiske. Mark was watching them....our Coach is very hands on during the camp. You see him teaching, you see him talking to the group. Many Div 1 coaches are pretty hands off during their camps, the kids get their money's worth at his camp.
Saw coach Sudbrook briefly, also talked with assistant coach Andrea Doneth for the women's team. Terrific person, they are busily recruiting for the 2016/17 class. Said hello to Coach Schmidt, chatted briefly....light talk....didn't want to ask about a big man.
About to leave the RC and in comes Dion and Tyson, coming from the direction of Plassman with books in hand. Dion looks so much bigger, not much shorter than Jordan. Just talking to these kids you can see the confidence, the belief of how good they will be. There is optimism all across campus that this could be a special year.
Did not get to see the schedule, but do know that the opener is November 13th.....a doubleheader at the RC, women vs Siena in the preseason NIT at 5:30 and the men at 8pm vs Binghamton. Great way to start the season.....tickets are not yet on sale.

Getting excited about prospects for a memorable season in 2015-16. The 2nd summer session ends July 30th. I would assume that the kids go home after the session before coming back in August for the start of the Fall semester. They are scrimmaging this week around 9, but maybe not every night.....Matt Pappano on Coach Schmidt's staff would know best.....the camp runs until 8:30pm. During the summer session the kids have sessions in the weight room and others on the court. NCAA rules effect how many kids can workout with a coach at one time....lots of restrictions.....I would imagine you can go to the RC or Richter and see the kids (men and women). Just walking the halls at the RC you never know who you run into.....just these 2 days saw or talked to Crowley/Doneth, Sudbrook, Schmidt/Curran/Robinson, Mrs Schmidt, Mest and the AD.....then Tyson/Wright. You can go to the Hickey and see some of the players during meal time.

Monday night had a number of keen observers watching all members of the team except Jay, Woods & Andoh. It is not uncommon to read observations at these first scrimmages & marvel at the disparity of assessments. However, these observations are amazingly consistent and match what I saw. Long after the players headed to the lockers discussion continued for some time with several observers in the stands & carried outside. The overall tone was one of optimism that mirrored the comments we have heard from staff recently.
Hard to add to what has already been said. I also felt the two best returning players were Tyson & Denzel. Jordan absorbed the contact Quise provided down low and scored easily with his jump hook on a couple of occassions. He is noticeably stronger than when I last saw him at Barclays. Denzel’s usual active game was there but he displayed the outside shot that has eluded him at Bona. Great sign for the season. Posley played with a level of disinterest which disappointed me. As a senior I expect him to demonstrate an ever present work ethic. Maybe he had a far more rigorous day then others which I hope explains his lack of intensity. Hope he showed that tonight.
Just heard that Tuesday night he played with the intensity I had hoped to see Monday might. The result was quite a show I hear. Seeing Davenport, Quise & Batch back on the court & hearing that Ogo is arriving soon is an indicator of how they feel about Bona.
Watching the new players most of us came away very impressed. That said, one scrimmage is only a snapshot. Can't predict too much from a single run.

This is the first year I recall reading about former players coming back and helping in practice.. anyone know if this is common, or is coach using his vets to help build this team stronger?
