ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure Director of Athletics Tim Kenney will hold an on-line question-and-answer session with alumni and fans on Thursday, July 23, from noon-1:00 p.m. EST.
Kenney will answer questions on any topic, but he specifically arranged this opportunity based on feedback about the new priority seating announcement for men's basketball.
To participate in the Q&A, visit athleticschat.sbu.edu/ and then select the “Please Register Here” link. Participants will be able to view questions and answers as well as submit their own question if they desire.

10 minutes in, three questions asked by participants, no responses yet, then booted out since time expired (!). Now cannot get back on. The fact that the AD wants to have a discussion is great - but the technology they are using is not working (at least for me, and I am at work using a pretty souped up system with a T1 line. Just got back in (5 minute delay0. Only response so far from the AD is "a lot of questions coming in so bear with me".

[Tim Kenney] 12:17 pm: We are not sure yet the results of this. But what we anticipate is that our students will not cause an issue with people sitting in the seats in front of them.
I think he just quoted a line from Sharknado 3, or he does not understand the Bona fan population.

The school should create a link - maybe through gobonnies.com - to view a transcript of the entire session.

Bonas does know you need to you a business level server, not a personal server for chats such as this correct? What a disaster, I am still waiting to log in.

"We looked at a number of options including moving the student section, which we did not feel was the right thing, placing a barricade which may have moved students back even further, media tables like at Duke University. In the end, we felt these were not the best solutions to the situation."
Question Re: was it an A10 directive? "It is not a directive to place seats there, but it is a point of emphasis to create a more secure playing floor."

some great questions on how its safer/whats the difference with students vs. $700 paying customers on the floor?
"we already have bench chairs and scorer's tables on the team bench side and also media tables in the end zones. Placing these new seats does not create any more risk than we already have"
"It is not that students are a threat - it is maintaining control of access to the playing floor."
it was brought up that the Reilly Center has gone 40+ years with no incidents..
"While we have not had any major incidents, the topic of arena security and fan interaction with players and coaches, along with court storming, has become a major point of emphasis not only in the A-10 but throughout college basketball"

The guy has been here a couple months, has never been to a game at the RC, and he is not willing to listen to alumni and students and back down on this decision. No directive from the A10. He will live to regret this. He's killing the RC.

questions on how they intend to sell such expensive seats in the cattaraugus co market anyway
"Currently we have 34 commitments for the 48 seats so the response has been very positive from our fans in purchasing these."

Supposedly they have already filled 34/48 seats. (Ooops, tasty beat me to it) I'll expand, TK says there have been requests to have courtside seats:
"We have seen a number of folks express their interest to sit courtside allowing us to accomodate new fans in the other Priority sections of the RC. In addition, we will be moving certain media seats, allowing us to add extra chairback seats in the blues to be able to offer to fans."
