bishop malone is going to celebrate mass this sunday at bonas as another school year begins...also at that time he will receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters...and pat panzarella will be honored for 50 years of service in the english dept...i didn't have him but remember him as the tennis coach and my daughter did summer study in perugia which pat directed...she thinks he's a great guy... and an endowed professorship in the school of education has been established in his honor with an anonymous gift of 600,000 dollars...good for him and good for the generous soul who made the donation...and i'm particularly pleased to see that the st joseph's oratory will become an adoration chapel...that, along with the work being done in the grotto, really enhances the campus, in my opinion...

Pat Panzarella was an awesome professor. I had him for Intellectual Journey and Public Speaking. He made those classes interesting. He was a great guy too. He would go out of his way to help you with anything.

How will St. Joseph's Oratory change? Will the simple inside be something different?

How will St. Joseph's Oratory change? Will the simple inside be something different? according to sbu.edu, "...bishop malone will be the first to place the Eucharist back in st joseph's oratory, which he will bless to signify the project to restore the oratory as an adoration chapel..."...no mention how, if at all, the oratory will change...i seem to remember a while ago reading that the francis hall chapel would be restored for eucharist adoration...while that would certainly hold more people, this might make more sense because of its location in the middle of campus (and much less expensive, if at any cost at all, to use)...the other spot i always thought would make a good location for Eucharistic adoration would've been the little room to the left when you enter the chapel...i hope the oratory and the grotto get frequent visitors...to instill faith in some, and to rekindle it in others...

It took me 55 years to finally go into St. Joseph's Oratory and I promptly cut my hand on the broken screen on the door. Enter at your own risk!
