A little off here, but I have a question: How many Franciscan colleges/universities are there in the United States? Was Bonaventure the first Franciscan college? I guess I should know this kind of information, specially when I am handing out brochures to prospective student athletes. Which by the way is going reasonably well, up to sixteen brochures handed out to curious Juniors at soccer sessions around Connecticut. I hope they continue to seek more information about Bona's from admissions office. I apologize for being off topic with the feast of St. Francis.

and thank you, 123rob, for this post...i grew up near felician and currently live not too far from the university of st francis...while all the franciscan schools share the spiritual beauty of st francis, i suspect (i say suspect because i haven't seen all the other franciscan schools) that our little school in the enchanted mts has a physcial beauty that's tough for any of our other franciscan schools to beat... and thanks again to you, mm77, for your efforts...following the example of st francis, it's not gonna be the big things that save our school (and all franciscan schools, i suspect) but the little things like handing out brochures that are gonna save the day for bonas...

Thanks 123Rob and thesenator, it is good I have this information when I chat with student-athletes. What a beautiful sunny day here in Connecticut, lets all enjoy the day and be thankful.

My understanding is that SBU was indeed the first Franciscan university in the US.
