Simmons did win a 3 point contest in high school. He also grew significantly in his time at St. Bonaventure. Idk about height but definitely in strength and size. He became a big banger down low here that would never be confused for a guard/wing but when he first stepped foot on campus he was much different and did not look too much unlike Denzel Gregg in size.
Combo-guard was probably pushing it but I can see how after hearing about his 3 point contest and remembering how he looked back then that the idea of him being a stretch wing/small forward type could've came about back then.

Strength and size, yes, big improvements over the years. When he showed up though, he was more Derrick Woods than he was Denzel Gregg.

VERBALCOMMITSTWITTER says the BONNIES have offered 6-9 2017 ALEXIS YETNA from Mt. Zion Prep(MD). Video >>>> www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrHrIa49LssThe Recruiting Horse Race Yetna has received offers from the following schools: Duquesne Rhode Island Georgia UCF Pittsburgh Towson New Mexico Rider Strengths Mid-range shooting capability: Catch and shoot in the mid-range. Shot Blocking Ability Rebounding: Gets himself into good rebounding position. Low Post Ball Handling Perimeter Shooting for Position Perimeter Defense: Very disruptive as a defender. Screening: His teammates need to stop rejecting his ball screens as they are actually quite effective. Weaknesses Ball Handling: Watch him take off on a fast break or drive the lane. Very high and uncomfortable dribble, it is a dribble that makes one hold their breath. He’s much slower and has awkward leg movement when dribbling the ball forward. Strength: He gets pushed over way too much in the low block and he struggles to hold onto his rebounds. Lack of post moves and positioning with the back to the basket. Speed: He looks like he’s doing the “Baywatch run” out there. Yetna plays like a taller and more raw, southpaw version of Pape Diatta. He may not be an immediate contributor because of his strength, but if he can get stronger and more polished handling the ball, a lot of the weaknesses would be shored up. Yetna is getting used to the U.S. game after playing the International game and it is a different sort of a game overseas. Coaches see what Alexis Yetna can be a few years down the road and that is why there is intrigue surrounding him. A lot of programs that have not offered are keeping close watch on him this Summer in AAU action and looking for a second breakout performance.

Chris Duarte, a class of 2017 6'5 wing playing for the NY Lightning and top 115 nationally, just picked up an offer from St. Bonaventure.
AAU NY Lightening program is led by Dana Dingle and our own Shandue McNeil - its about time we started knocking on his door - like this new AD and his NYC slant - yes many changes in approach since he arrived!
2017 Troy (NY) Redemption Christian wing Chris Duarte was sidelined at the beginning of the EYBL season because of a broken nose suffered during the first stop in New York. His injury forced him to miss the remainder of the two live periods, as well as some time following.
However, during the final EYBL session in Atlanta, Duarte, a 6-foot-5 wing, showed his resurgence and showed flashes of being back to 100%. The native of the Dominican Republic was impressive during a matchup with Team Penny, as he finished with 20 points and five rebounds.
Because of his broken nose, things have been quiet on the recruiting front for Duarte. Several programs were expected to watch him during the live periods and potentially extend scholarship offers. With that being said, July will be crucial for Duarte.
“Chris has offers from South Florida, Seton Hall, Tulane, Saint Louis, and Old Dominion,” New York Lightning coach Dana Dingle told HoopSeen.com. “He has plenty of other schools interested, too. It’s just a matter of him showing them in July.”
Duarte entered the 2017 HoopSeen national rankings this week at No. 114.

NY Lightning AAU Shandue McNeill Co-Director
BIOGRAPHY
Shandue McNeill, a native New Yorker, grew up in Rockaway, Queens. He attended Archbishop Molloy High School where he learned the game from legendary coach, Jack Curran. After Molloy, he went on to attend St. Bonaventure University. At St. Bonaventure he was the linchpin in the rebirth of the basketball program.
A prototype point guard, McNeill's game belied his 5 foot 7 inch height. He earned Atlantic 10 All-Rookie honors in 1993-94. The following season, he helped lead the Bonnies to their first postseason appearance in 12 years, a NIT berth. McNeill was selected second team All-Conference that year. The only player in school history to lead the Bonnies in assists four straight years. He was named to the A-10's All Defensive team once and the Academic All-Conference team three times. Following college, he played professionally in Europe and Latin America. He currently works as a trader on Wall Street while directing one of NIKE's top grassroot basketball programs, NY LIGHTNING, in the country.
