Prayers go out to Chris and his family. My Father-in-law and a friend (both deceased) worked with Chris in the NY Office. No surprise they knew he was a Bona grad. These agents were a different breed than the hierarchy of today's Bureau.

Marcian Doyle OFM was a Navy chaplain for several years following the Korean war. The Harley was a gift from some close friends. Fr. Doyle got permission from the powers that were in the Province to accept it. Like a number of Friars he had an unconventional side......which I'm glad for in that OFM formation doesn't remove the unique personhood from a Friar. In my experience the Jesuits over-the-top "discern" and "formation" and end up all about identical in their priesthoods.

Attached article "SBU football hero, FBI special agent passed this week" is from Olean Times Herald. Chris Scaturo was Bonnies starting QB in the late 40s. Also attached is a short video clip of him playing against Boston College. Receiver of the TD pass was George Hays who played with the Steelers. He played professionally with the Jersey Giants. Following is from article. In 1950, Scaturo earned a bachelor of science in mathematics from St. Bonaventure University, where he was quarterback of the football team. He is remembered for engineering a 1949 upset over Boston University when — in his final season — he threw two touchdown passes and ran for a third touchdown himself. After that season he was presented with a wristwatch recognizing his athletic achievement. The inscription on the watch read "St. Bonaventure Gridiron Club Award to Chris Scaturo 1949." Following graduation, Scaturo played for the Jersey Giants. An injury in his third game ended his professional football career. www.oleantimesherald.com/news/state-union-sbu-football-hero-fbi-special-agent-passed-this/article_a0246428-7040-11e8-94e9-3ba3e6468360.htmlarchives.sbu.edu/football/the_history.htm Just an absolute stud.

Larry was a good man. Every now and then when I was a grade schooler, my folks hosted bridge parties and Larry and Fred Handler were there with their spouses. He loved Bona and his roles at the RC. A true Bonaventure man.

A true Bonaventure man. I had dinner with Fred Handler just two weeks ago down by Mobile,Al. He is such a character we had good laughs. Fred was one of my favorites, if not my FAVORITE staff members and coaches while I was at Bonas in the late 70s, early 80s. What a class guy and always down to earth...always seeking to talk to you....I remember we just had ONE conflict as I was sports editor of the BV when he was the baseball coach. One of my sports writers covering the baseball beat had a great lead-in to his weekly article highlighting the terrible pitching the baseball team was having that year. The BV writer mentioned how Coach had to be "seriously thinking of disguising the team's pitching machine on the mound" against their competition. Coach called me out when he saw me on campus that week telling me to "take it easy" on his boys on the pitching staff. I reasoned with him that I had some sympathy for my bona athletes but I had to allow for a great piece of writing by my sports writer....Long live Coach Fred Handler!!!
