Does anybody have information on how to purchase tickets to the March tourney in Buffalo? It seems, the only place you can get tickets is thru Stubhub etc.... Where they jack the price.

Only a small portion of the tickets are released early for general sale. I always buy tickets through the team allotment that has qualified for that site. Much better seats.

There was a "lottery" several months ago. I was informed that I will receive seats and that the seat location would be told to me in early 2017.

I didn't bother trying to get tickets. Why? I plan on traveling to wherever the Bonnies are placed.

Only a small portion of the tickets are released early for general sale. I always buy tickets through the team allotment that has qualified for that site. Much better seats. Don't you have to be a season ticket holder or donor to get tickets from the schools? Depends on the school. Some schools will put restrictions on them. But there are always four teams at a site. For instance, the last time Buffalo hosted was 2014. The teams that played there were Ohio State, Syracuse, Dayton, and Western Michigan. So in that grouping I would call Western Michigan to buy tickets. They just want to fill out their crowd and will have the least demand for their tickets. So then you sit in the Western Michigan section which are just as good seats as the Syracuse, Ohio State, and Dayton fans seats which all paid a premium for their seats because the school could hold them ransom. The great thing about the NCAAs (in my opinion) is always the single bid conference teams. They have great fans that are just happy to be there, their players put it all on the court in hopes of an upset, and they can't require you be a season ticket holder because they don't have enough season ticket holders to fill the seats let alone willing to travel to the site for the game. The last time I was to an NCAA game in Buffalo was in 2007, when I sat in the Davidson section and watched a freshmen Seth Curry light up Maryland in a loss. I took a relative living in Rochester to the game. In 2010, they called me the week of the Buffalo games to see if I could get tickets for them again. I told them what to do and they purchased a few tickets from #10 Missouri without a problem. I have always found success with getting tickets from schools at the site. The one thing I ask, if you go that route is that you adopt that school where you got tickets for the game and you cheer for them 100 percent. Don't sit in a team's section and cheer for another team. A lot of people don't realize how few tickets are actually utilized for a lot of games. Here are a few pictures from some NCAA games. - /photo/1 - - - /photo/1

Look carefully, though, and you will notice that the empty seats are not associated with the team from the single-bid conference. There's plenty of orange and blue there.

Wasn't meant as a slight to single bid conferences. It is hard to move a few thousand tickets in a few days to a distant location when your home games average only a few thousand. Still looks like a lot of empty seats in their section since that section to the right should be theirs as well. Though, I admit Bucknell is not a great example since they do have a pretty strong basketball following and the school is known to produce a lot of successful alums with the time available and means to travel on a weekday.

Also of note, tickets are sold to four teams, but only two are playing at time. Its not surprising to see entire sections empty, especially for the first game.
Getting tickets in the small school's section is a good way to go, but as Pinnum said, cheer for them. After all, how often are we the small school that someone chooses to cheer for.
