Also of note, tickets are sold to four teams, but only two are playing at time. Its not surprising to see entire sections empty, especially for the first game. Getting tickets in the small school's section is a good way to go, but as Pinnum said, cheer for them. After all, how often are we the small school that someone chooses to cheer for. In Nashville it felt like the whole arena was cheering for us outside of the FSU section but that could be a biased opinion. I wasnt in the Bona section, I couldnt find tickets for that section to save my life so I was 1 over. We were definitely the loudest anyway. Pinnum, that is a good strategy, I'll have to remember that. I was thinking about going to the Buffalo games this year, depending who is playing there.

Well one doesn't really have to tell St. Bonaventure fans to cheer for the small school in a random game. That's pretty much preaching to the choir. But a paying customer can root for whoever they want and in this example the school selling them would get the money no matter what color you wear and that's more important than who you root for anyway

When we played Kentucky it seemed like the whole crowd outside of the UK section was rooting for us too. That's something unique that I think will always benefit us when we get into the dance. That's also a reason we should try as hard as we can to get into these big regular season tournaments as well

Wasn't meant as a slight to single bid conferences. I didn't take it that way, fwiw. I think agoo has hit the nail on the head, though. The last tournament game I was at was the Bucknell-UConn opening round game in DC in 2011. Bucknell seats were full, UConn's not, but nearly so. There were very few people in the seats reserved for fans of the later game, however. So, to the TV viewer, the arena probably looked to be about 65% full.

Don't you have to be a season ticket holder or donor to get tickets from the schools? Depends on the school. Some schools will put restrictions on them. But there are always four teams at a site. For instance, the last time Buffalo hosted was 2014. The teams that played there were Ohio State, Syracuse, Dayton, and Western Michigan. So in that grouping I would call Western Michigan to buy tickets. They just want to fill out their crowd and will have the least demand for their tickets. So then you sit in the Western Michigan section which are just as good seats as the Syracuse, Ohio State, and Dayton fans seats which all paid a premium for their seats because the school could hold them ransom. The great thing about the NCAAs (in my opinion) is always the single bid conference teams. They have great fans that are just happy to be there, their players put it all on the court in hopes of an upset, and they can't require you be a season ticket holder because they don't have enough season ticket holders to fill the seats let alone willing to travel to the site for the game. The last time I was to an NCAA game in Buffalo was in 2007, when I sat in the Davidson section and watched a freshmen Seth Curry light up Maryland in a loss. I took a relative living in Rochester to the game. In 2010, they called me the week of the Buffalo games to see if I could get tickets for them again. I told them what to do and they purchased a few tickets from #10 Missouri without a problem. I have always found success with getting tickets from schools at the site. The one thing I ask, if you go that route is that you adopt that school where you got tickets for the game and you cheer for them 100 percent. Don't sit in a team's section and cheer for another team. A lot of people don't realize how few tickets are actually utilized for a lot of games. Here are a few pictures from some NCAA games. - /photo/1 - - - /photo/1 Thanks for the tips! But, there are actually 8 teams for the Buffalo and other 1st weekend sites. If you want to go to all three sessions, do you do it for teams in the 2 different sessions on the first day and then hope one but not both makes it to the weekend?...........Also, you pick up the tickets at will call, I take it?

Yes, picked up at will call. Yeah, you'd have to do that for both sessions if you want to attend both sessions in the first day but that is exhausting. Four games is a lot of basketball, much more taxing in person than watching on TV, if you've never done it. Plus you have to clear the arena for each session.

At first, I thought the same thing - I am not up to watching four live basketball games in one day! But, I've now done it a few times.

Buy tix in Buffalo. Trade for tix where Bona plays. All we need is to be seeded in the top 16, and we'll play in Buffalo!
