Explains his tweet from earlier saying something about starting from the begining.

79, Yup makes total sense. I just hope he can get back for some of the season at this point. I would assume another RS year would be off the table since he's probably due to graduate next year basically (I'm guessing but). If he broke the same bone in the same foot I cannot imagine the recovery time is any less than it was a year ago meaning he's probably out for the season. What a tough break for Courtney. Really a shame....hoping for some good news on any potential MRI. www.thebonablog.com

If the same athlete has a second season where a documented injury forces them to miss the season, they can qualify for the sixth year waiver. Since the progress toward graduation requirements still applies to athletes during their hardship season, the sixth year waiver is most often utilized in graduate school. Of course, the graduate transfer rule would also apply so he could transfer to another school with two years eligibility remaining.

Simmons was a case of the sixth year waiver. So Stocksrd could get that too. Of course, the next thing to determine would be if he wants to be here for four years or if he wants to start life after college. If he's prioritizing pro-ball, he's better off staying.

I think we are projecting to far out......let's see what the injury is? Same bone? A weakness that makes him susceptible, again, and again? Let's hope it is a minor setback.

My question regarding another RS year (if that is needed) is what Agoo mentioned: does he want to do 6 years of college and go get a masters? That's not for everyone. Yes Simmons did it, but my guess is most players would not opt for a career that consisted of two years in juco, 2 years sitting out and 2 years playing. Most kids want to graduate and try to make a living. I'm sure he's very frustrated by the setback. We will see, let's hope for a positive injury update for now. www.thebonablog.com

I think that all of Bona nation is praying for better days for Courtney as well.
As we await the prognosis, Courtney will have time to ponder the opportunity to complete a masters degree before testing the waters of playing professionally.
It is a tough pill to swallow but does offer a great opportunity in the big picture for his future. Hope he can focus on the silver lining as he deals with this set back. Prayers are with him.

Ah yes, this is part and parcel of the vicissitudes of the pre season where dreams and expectations clash with the cold reality of injury and disqualification. The only thing that really counts is the hard reality of wins and losses and for that we must wait the decision of the fates............................................

More worried about the kid than the effect on our season, present or future!

Another thing to think about relating to a master's program, is that they aren't a walk in the park. Just as college isn't meant for some people, a master's isn't for some as well. He is listed as a sports management major (I didn't even realize we offered that major). Which masters program would you assume he would enroll in? MBA?

Wouldn't he also have to take the GRE and do well on it, or is that optional?

Wouldn't he also have to take the GRE and do well on it, or is that optional? Usually a degree from the same school will eliminate the need for a GRE.
