Agree on VCU fans, some of them are awful... I'm not reading into your quote too much about "VCU fans" but I see this as a good opportunity to bring this up. I noticed when reading the VCU board about the game at Bonas a couple of weeks ago that one of their posters was very angry, and reasonably so, at our "fans" because last season at the A-10 tourney, a group of Bona fans spat from atop a building while yelling out against VCU and almost hit his wife as they were walking down below . I was sad to hear that but then it just proves my point that I usually bring up about almost ALL groups of human beings in that each one has its "bad apples". For the longest time, I have held a bias against West Virginia because back in the 80s, I was talking to a Bona baller who was a friend of mine who said that fans at their home court spat towards our b-ball team as they were on their way out of the gym. To further enhance my anger, I was at an A-10 tourney in Pittsburgh my senior year at Bonas in 1982 when a young female wearing WVU apparel noticed me wearing my SBU coat and said to me, "St. Bonaventure sucks!!!" I guess the point is that we all have our "bad apples" in our groups and chances are that one group of people is most likely not worse than another. The cross section of each is mainly made up of great people who have their own biases of whom to support. That being said: Let's go, VCU! coach- every fanbase has bad apples, yes. The difference is that we (and most schools) at least look down on these bad apples. At VCU the bad apples become the "un-official" official cheerleaders and they do things like letting them sing the national anthem and promoting their idiocy as a point of pride. Additionally, the basketball IQ of their fanbase is extremely lacking and they have no concept of tradition. You can't say that about most A10 schools - tradition is what this conference prides itself on and most fanbases in this league at least know basic basketball rules, or even better know the game pretty well! I said it before we even played VCU this year- you know its bad when Dayton fans, who everyone in the league used to point out as the trashy fanbase, now are close friends in comparison to VCU

I hate to say this because maybe certain Bona fans give a lot of people the same impression, but what I've seen from VCU fans gives me the idea that it is not a very selective school academically. I really don't know if that's true or not, but that's the impression I've received. It's really hard for me to cheer for them, but "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." We can't catch VCU before the A10 tourney in any realistic scenario, so right now the primary adversary is Richmond. Let's hope VCU wins tonight.

For your mental health's sake, I wouldn't...............The thing that bothered me about them after the game was their smugness and saying bad sportsmanship lost the game. You take the win, and shut up. I wouldn't be gloating about it.

Wouldn't mind knocking those bags of sh+* out of the A-10 tournament, not as good as they think they are.

As someone that stayed up way too late arguing with VCU fans after the game I will say that they are persistent and didn't take too many personal shots when debating the game. Although it really annoys me that they act like playing in the RC is like being a white guy trying to play pickup in Harlem in the 80s. Thats not an exact quote but you get the idea.

Well folks, VCU has a tendency to "win" the close ones on the road, wink-wink. May as well make Spidey the next "victim".
Going into LaSalle, I believed Bona could win five of the last six. The hit likely comes Saturday at UD, then win out. Then let the chips fall where they may at season's end.
The one wild card which bears watching is Mason. They are playing some nice ball of late.

That was some impressive win by VCU at Spidey. Shot 58% and got a lot of open looks. D held UR to 38% accuracy.
Dayton and VCU in stretch drive for top seed.

No1stunna,
What happens if:
SBU wins out--makes us 12-6(should make us the 4th seed) LaSalle Wins out--makes Lasalle-11-7 Rhody wins 1 of 3-- makes Rhody 11-7
Who gets the 5th seed?

we should be tied for third If its any consolation, as of right now we would be the 5 anyway since we are 0-2 vs Richmond and URI.

To get the double bye, we need to win our remaining 3 games AND either URI or Richmond lose 2 of their remaining 3. URI plays VCU, St Joes and Davidson. Richomond plays Fordham, UMass and Saint Louis. It is possible for URI to lose 2, but they are playing at a high level currently, but you never know, they are a jekyl/hyde team.
If we win 2 of 3, you cannot expect URI or Richmond to lose all 3 of their remaining games. So we must win out.

Looks like we are one win away from locking up the 5 spot.
Or a loss by both Mason and Lasalle might guarantee us the 5 bc of the tiebreaker we own against both.
If we can not jump up to the 4 seed which seems unlikely at this point here is what we are looking at in Pittsburgh.
Thursday we would play the winner of the 12 vs 13 game @ 230pm. Looks like this will likely be Joes, Umass or the Dukes.
Friday we would play the 4 seed @ 230pm. Likely to be URI, Richmond. I really hope we draw Richmond. I like that match up a lot better than a healthy URI. Looks like Spiders have the tiebreaker over the Rams so URI would need to end with the better record to get the 3 seed.
Saturday we will play the winner of the #1 seed vs 8/9 @1pm. So prob looking at Dayton or VCU.
Sunday we will play @ 1230 for the championship. Then we will be a popular 12 vs 5 upset pick in the NCAA tournament as we play Notre Dame in Buffalo on 3/16.
If this magical run doesn't pan out I think if we win out and take two games in the A10 especially if one is against URI, we are playing in the NIT which is important for this group bc the more post season games we play this year will benefit us next year as I think most of us feel is a year we could go to the dance and win a game.

A Bonaventure win or a GW loss locks us in for at least the 5 spot. We would need URI or Richmond to lose out and us to win out to take 4th.
Bonnies are at Davidson Tuesday and home vs Umass Saturday
GW is at Fordham Wednesday and home vs Dayton Saturday
URI at St Joes Wednesday and home vs Davidson Saturday
Richmond is at Umass Wednesday and home vs St Louis Saturday
If both Richmond and URI win Wednesday I'm cheering hard for URI and St. Louis Saturday. I want the spiders badly on Friday in Pittsburgh as long as we can get past Thursdays game.
