I know he doesnt have a ton of playing time yet, but I am not really a huge fan (yet). He seems very raw. I think there would be a better chance of seeing Josh's 33 up there assuming he stops throwing fists at people.

Raw on the defensive end! His offensive game is ahead right now. needs to figure out just his mere physical presence can change shots on the defensive end. he does not even need to try to block every shot and learn to use his 'behind' to block out.
Watch out, the future is bright.

If Mobley wins us an ncaa round or 2. . .maybe. I love ikpeze. Everything about him. Size, touch, 15ft touch but he has to calm down a bit. Love his passion and all for it but he's a freshman and needs to understand he's going to get called for every possible foul. There was a moment in the la Salle game when he stared down a la salle player and the ref straight up ran over and yelled at amadi to grow up. Love his upside. Just needs to grow up. I can't remember any of our current veterans being as immature on the court as Ayeni and Ikpeze have been to be honest...!never remember Adams, Taqqee, or Gregg doing half the crap these two pull in a game( Ikpeze did stare a guy down, Ayeni has had to been broken away from opposing teams multiple times)

AN wasn't all that different maybe a little more understated than these two but he wasn't afraid to let guys know he was there and did punch at least one opponent

I noticed this interaction with the ref too. From my seat it looked like the ref made contact with Ikpeze while chewing him out. The ref was poking his finger at him before the free throw there might not have been contact but ref did get right in his face. All of this might be normal ref behavior but stuck out to me.

So, he stared down an opponent who fouled him as he made a shot...I like that fire...letting the older player know he wasn't intimidated... then after the ref got in his face, he calmly made the And1...Amani is just fine...no pushing, shoving, or throwing fists...just a stare down...LOVE IT

I for one don't understand how anyone could have a problem with Amadi. I wish all of our recruits had his attitude and were polite, nice and wanting to improve and get better like he does. I love his upside as well and hope his next three years here have big things in store.

I saw that too and have no problem with it. Seemingky, all he did was stare him down. We also don't know what the Lasalle player did or said right before this. The ref seemed pretty hot with his finger toward Amadi's chest so who knows what happened. My initial reaction (from just the visual on TV) was the ref was letting him know to cool it since the game was basically in hand and not show up the other team. I love Amadi's attitude and how his game is already coming along. Can't wait to see what Coach Fiske does with both Ikpeze and Ayeni. I also love that the two of them will be leaning on and pushing each other in the gym for 3 more years. When they both gain some lift and explosion to the rim--look out.

I would actually like to see Jaylen run some clear-out plays for Amandi today. Make Pollard work on the defensive end, maybe get few fouls on him too.

My initial reaction (from just the visual on TV) was the ref was letting him know to cool it since the game was basically in hand and not show up the other team. Unless Ikpeze directed one or more of the forbidden words to a La Salle player (and it did not appear so from the replay), I think the ref overreacted. He could have cautioned him without the obvious anger he showed. Now, on the other hand, I suspect Schmidt was loving every minute of it because it's likely that the ref's reaction will have more of an impact on a kid than Schmidt yelling in his ear for the 25th time for a similar act.

I like both Ayeni and Ikpeze, I think both will turn out to be a nice 4 and 5 in the future..... My fear is that they will never gain that explosiveness and play above the rim. Do you know Ayeni hasn't dunked a basketball all season?? At least not that I have seen, not saying that is the end all of everything but he is 6'8" and I beg everybody to watch him today when he tries to rebound, he literally doesn't get 4 inches off the ground! He is one of the poorest defensive rebounders I have ever seen, although he does have a smooth touch from the line and from 15 feet!

5000, I saw AYENI dunk the ball in warm ups at the LaSalle game, just not sure, why like you said he is not more explosive to the rim during games.

It's really weird, I know he can dunk obviously but he doesn't show any athleticism during games at all. Maybe he is growing into his body still, but only concerns me because it's not like he is really a freshmen, he had a year of prep school after his senior year of high school. There has been probably 20-30 times this year somebody will drop him a nice pass off and if he was just explosive he would go up and throw it down... I just don't get it, to me he has more of an old mans game where he shoots the elbow jumper well and has a nice pump fake, but it will be tough for him to be an all conference guy in the future unless he gains some explosiveness. I see more of an all conference future for Ikpeze. When I try and compare what I would like Ayeni turn into it would be like a Kendall Pollard from Dayton but he has a long ways to go....

Josh is still learning the game and is tentative when he is under the basket. Once he gets confidence he will go up strong. It isnt because he doesnt have the ability, thats for sure
