The stage is set for Saturday. I don’t just expect to beat UB. I expect to throttle UB. I don’t respect UB. Why should I? Bona has owned them. What have they done this year to warrant all the hype? They beat a West Virginia team that has proven to be mediocre. Not to mention, they’ve never played in an environment like the RC. I expect a sell out. It will make Morgantown look like a church choir.

It’s going to be a zoo. The RC is a magical place when the students and townies combine forces.

I shouldn’t say I don’t respect UB. Hurley & now Oats have built something special. What they did to Arizona was remarkable. Upsets are commonplace in the tournament. It’s rare to see a mid major dominate a game like that. Especially a team with the #1 overall pick. What Bona and UB did last year was great for the community. It opened eyes. I know Buffalo will never be a basketball town, but sometimes it seems like the sport doesn’t exist. It’s all about hockey, football, and even the Bandits get more publicity.
What I should say is - I don’t fear UB. Massinburg, Harris, and Perkins are nice players. Nothing overwhelming. That said, this is a step up in weight class. Luckily, the Bonnies have a heavyweight of their own in Courtney Stockard. I think he will lead this team to a big win.
What’s the Bonnies record recently vs ranked opponents? I know it’s impressive.

Let's be clear. Buffalo is not a rival. They are just a local program we play some times.
They are not a rival program of ours. They are a ranked team that is coming in for a non-conference game. Nothing more.

Nothing more. Correct. UB is a Johnny-come-lately on the WNY hoop scene. Never have, never will be Little Three, and I don't ascribe to the Buff News-driven Big 4 crap.

The Bonnies are 10-2 all time against Buffalo. Include 4-0 against Buffalo in their 'glory years' of the previous four season which included three NCAA appearances. Siena is a rival. Buffalo is just a game against a ranked opponent. Yes, the Bonnies get up for games against a ranked opponent but the game is not some special rivalry game.

It could start to be a special rivalry game if both programs continue their recent success.

If Siena is a rival then so is UB. We resumed both series around 2009 and now play both every year. Unlike Niagara and Canisius, Buffalo is probably the only program in the city that has the chance to be good most years.
Why does everyone continue to bring up our series record against UB? We beat them without Clark last year and Massinburg the year before. Buffalo might be the best team we will play out of conference. I don't care if their wins are over Carnegie Mellon, Houghton and Gannon... They have serious talent and will be a handful Saturday.
Thankfully for us, Stockard's return coupled with Kaputo's emergence has given this team a new look.

It could start to be a special rivalry game if both programs continue their recent success. Exactly. No, it’s not a historical rivalry game. But both teams have really turned the tide in the last 5 years or so compared to where they were in 2010 when this game was first installed as an every-year event. There’s been a great energy at the games the last several years, each with an increasing intensity. If both programs keep this up, this has the potential to be one of the more intriguing non-conference rivalries amongst non power conferences. I believe if you told the current students and players for each team that it wasn’t a rivalry, most would disagree. Davidson isn’t historically a rivalry either, but you wouldn’t know it based on the way the games have been played in the last few years. Same could be said for St Joes.

The series has been more competitive with Siena too. Yes, Buffalo is good this year. Just like UNC-Wilmington when we brought them in or when we went to play Florida. It doesn't mean they are a rival just because they have a good team and are on the schedule. Buffalo is just a team on the schedule. Of course, UB would love to be considered a rival. They know that the Bonnies have a fanbase in WNY.

Also agree the record vs them historically means nothing when it comes to the game being played Saturday, As far as beating them without Clark, sure that's true, but I attended that game. Jaylen Adams may have played but that wasn't Jaylen Adams out there, so I'm not going to discredit last year's win as a legitimate road win for us in that serie.
