- Gonzaga stays at #1, Neavada falls one spot to #6
- UB up four to #17
- Furman gets their first ranking ever slotting into #25
- Houston, Radford and Davidson also getting at least 1 vote
A glimmer of hope for some non-power conferences moving forward this season. Although we may not be earning votes like last year, with the core we have now it seems promising that perhaps we can return to those times sooner rather than later in the coming years. Regardless, I cannot wait for Wednesday to see if we can look as good versus a team that has at least beat GW and Harvard.

Wow. Seeing a team like Furman get love this early and a team like UB get all the way up to 17 with only one really marquee win is defintely surprising
Will make the crowd and hopefully the players all the more fired up for Saturday.

Now that #17 UB is up next; does anyone know when last time a ranked Non-Conference team at time (so Temple, Xavier, WVU, etc. don't count) came into the RC?
I was thinking Syracuse in 1984?

Had to dig deep into the record book for this. Syracuse on Dec 11, 1986 was ranked #12 so that is your answer. St Johns in 85 and Syracuse in 84 were the 2 prior. They list Wisconsin in 1996 but they were 30th so not sure why they were considered to be ranked in the record book.

The Syracuse game on 12/11/86 was at the Buffalo Aud. 7100 in attendance . Patrick Allen had 16. The late Pete Pavia was one of the refs. I believe the St. John's game was in NYC for he ECAC Holiday Festival.

The record book probably has some errors in it. It definitely lists that 1986 game as being in the RC.

SU can kiss that #25 ranking goodbye thanks to a loss to Old Dominion in the dome LOL! Also of note, Bucknell just gave #15 Ohio State quote the scare. Missed a 3 close to the buzzer, ended up losing by 2.

I’ll be surprised if UB doesn’t beat Cuse. I hate to heap praise on the Bulls, but they’re the real deal. Their ranking is justified. Looks like they had a nice crowd tonight. Hopefully the locals are catching on. It’s always bothered me how basketball takes a backseat to 3 or 4 other sports in this city.

This has to be the poorest shooting Cuse squad in a very long time. Consistently in the 30s/low 40s pct. UB is more than athletic enough to give them fits.
