I'm a card carrying Barry fan....would it hurt to see if Barry could beat his guy off the dribble in spread out motion offense that freed up 1 side of the floor??? My eyes say Barry can handle the ball very well for a guy his size and most guys his size can't keep Barry in front of them off the bounce.... We are sub 500 in conference with a team that can beat any team on any given night or lose to any team on any given night....Let's mix it up at this point as the double buy is probably out of reach....Secondly with all the quickness why are we not running that patent 1-3-1 full court press like back in the day with Griffen on the top?? Put Barry there and reek havoc...To prior posters point PICK UP THE TEMPO create easy buckets.. FREQUENT/CONSISTENT EASY BUCKETS HAVE BEEN TROUBLESOME TO FIND MOST of the season....I have seen some with Mike driving to bucket with some acrobatic layups but not consistent......LETS GO BONA's

I'm in the Barry fan club too They did try a zone for stretches in one game in A10 play though this year, I actually think it was Fordham at home. It wasn't a 1-3-1 but it was a zone and it was ugly, Fordham feasted. Schmidt quickly went back to man.

I also like the Assa Barry combo in the game at the same time - and agree let Barry free!!!! Sure he will make some mistakes but at this point who cares - let's get him ready so he can explode next season.

No, I'm not saying Schmidt doesn't deserve blame. I honestly think this team is built to just play uptempo and scrap. I just don't think they do well slowing things down and running a set offense. I would like to see them just play run and gun. Slowing it down seems to make these current players stagnant. When they are moving and playing without thinking they seem to play better. I think it would be great to go to the conference tourney just playing run and gun. We have scorers but they get lost setting up the offense. I say bombs away. Totally agree. Our roster is not built to jam the ball into the post while other 4 guys stand around watching. Coach had 4 years of OO in the post and seldom threw the ball inside - yet OO was a much better passer. We have shooters and ball handlers like never before. Evans is a Bona unicorn who can play well in space and sees the floor well. Why not utilize his talents along with Pride, Mika etc? I don't know the deal with Evans b/c coach likes those glue (do it all guys) and barry Evans is probably the most complete Glue guy he's ever had. The kid plays defense, passes well, doesn't take bad shots and usually is good for a crazy dunk. But, he also rebounds very well. I bet if he played a whole game his stat line would read - 8 points, 2 assist, 2 Turnovers, 2 blocks, and 15 - 20 boards. I don't understand his lack of PT. It's clear he needs to be on the floor. If they want to play slow it down ball then I would also put noel down low with chad. You can't collapse on chad with noel being wide open on the other block. Then put ASSA-mika-pride around the perimeter. In my opinion, that seems like it would be impossible to guard. I would really like to see noel and chad in at the same time. Just teach them that on defense stay straight up with hands straight up. They almost get it but they both lean in while doing it. Stop leaning in and most those fouls will go away. Like I said in the past this is not an easy team to coach or even truly be a fan of. You don't know what team you will get when you watch them. ASSA 7-7 from three. I understand streaky shooters but this team is built with 8 streaky shooters.. Not just streaky but the streakiest I have ever witnessed.
